DOH!!!
Well, I finally did all of my bass's finish a favor and removed those metal strap locks from my bass straps! As careful as I tried to be with them installed on my straps around my basses those little dings would just happen. 
So, since I no longer dance wildly across the stage floor while playing or swing my strapped bass around my neck for cool points, my dings from strap locks are a thing of the past.

I used to use strap locks until one night at a gig I realized I left my strap at home, it made for a tough gig. This is why I put oversized strap buttons on all my guitars & basses.
