Chuck, any simple/quick tricks that you know of to stiffen a stack pot? I know the best trick is to replace it, but it's not making the scratching noise when you turn it while amplified. The top/treble knob seems to want to rotate on its own when I'm bouncing/moving around (you know, Jamming!) playing it.
You mean the neck volume is moving to easily?
The way I fix that issue is to remove the shaft and wiper from the back cover and putting a little dielectric grease
in the bottom of cover then put the pot back together. This may prove to be difficult with the pot all wired up.

Actually, it's not a volume pot, but the Bass/Treble stack pot on a old active jazz bass, where the Treble (inner shift) rotates to easily.
I don't want to try and pull this pot apart without having a new one in hand to fix a bigger issue!
I looked at the link and something like that might work on the top knob.
I hate to bother you to pack and send me a stack pot that I can google and find myself, but I appreciate the offer.
Let me see if I can get a piece of felt/something that might help provide some friction.

Okay, so I found two pieces of felt (used to protect the finish for mounting strap buttons), which fitted inside the narrow well on the bottom of the knob perfectly. I took a leather hole punch and punched out a hole just large enough to fit over the shaft. Using both felt pieces and a very thin washer I was able to attach the Treble knob and the felt added more friction to hold my Treble setting, and the thin washer to help reduce the friction so the bottom Bass adjustments wont interfere with the Treble setting.
I will put it to the test at tonight's gig!!
If my simple fix don't work, I'll move on to the next best trick ---- Replacement!!

Okay, so I did take the Jazz bass (MV5) to test the stability of the bass/Treble stack pot, but I also took my MTD Kingston ZX5 and started out playing it. Well, the MTD was playing and sounding so good through my Genzler rig that I never switched to the MV5.
The band last night was a four piece horn section (2-trumpets, 1-sax, 1-trombone), four females and one male singers, keys, drums, and bass!

UPDATE: The quick and simple fix to the B/T stack pot knob on my MV5 did work, which is great because I was trying to replace them (VTC pot also) with stock pots from the builder, but that was a difficult process, obviously, which ended up being a good thing!

@Nightman, I was having dinner with Chuck yesterday, wife and I drove over from Vermont.
It was a nice dinner and a great day as usual. Chuck and his wife are so friendly.
Nyah! Nyah! Nyah! I got to fondle the neck on your next bass and it felt soooo good
it is so light and the wood is spectacular.
I got to sit with Chuck in the shop and had a minor religious experience as I got to lay hands on all the recent
guitars in this batch, just wow.
Plus I got to see the next in progress creation of Chuck's but I am sworn to secrecy
on threat of not being able to purchase another guitar from Chuck a fate which I shall not suffer.

All three switch positions just out did each other. I really love those pups.
Of course the Guitars with the 3 pup layouts were awesome also.
I especially loved the in between selector switch tones. the 2 & 4 settings, heck they all sounded outstanding.
Can't pick a favorite really, but those Z-90's are bending me to their will, the force is strong in those
BTW, those finishes and the colors are just outstanding even the wife was wowed with those. She really loved that Sonic Blue and that other color which I can't remember off the top of my head. We just loved them all.
