I did not have many jam photos, so these are at the start and end of a jam. We may have just bass and guitar or full band with three guitarists, bass, keys, drums. All of the guitarists and I sing, but my wife is our lead vocalist.
Pulling those photos is probably a blessing in disguise, too!! LOL

The woods in both basses are different, so, although the pups are the same, they have a different tone print. Chuck really knows his stuff!!

I tried a 6'er! I used to own a very nice Roscoe LG 6'er!! Nice bass, but I couldn't keep my mind straight when gigging with it. I traded it for a Roscoe 5'er and never looked back.
I wouldn't waste my time with another 6'er bass. Now, one of his CP Thornton electric guitars is calling my name, though!!
Plus, I'm still holding out for his raised thumbrest model!

His guitars are fantastic. Necks and fret job is the best I have seen.
I know it is a pain for Chuck to do the thumb rest in regards to finishing but I love the look and also love the active/passive control layout.
I would have gone for active/passive myself but the remaining body wasn't routed for that.
I have several of his guitars, love them all. Chuck's guitars are like Baskin Robins ice cream 31 flavors, I enjoy many different flavors so gotta have them.

I bet his guitars are very special, if they are anything like his basses!! I currently own a Gibson Smart Wood and a PRS Custom 22. I'm thinking about sending one to Chuck and ask him to do a fret job on it or even switch out the neck for one of his torrefied necks.

This echoes my findings with my other basses.
Which bass amps did you check out and which cabinets did you use?
I have an Epifani performance 400 and a 1x12 epifani DIST cabinet. My jam friends, god bless them, each have a bass amp/cab at their studio/jam rooms. One has a Genz-Benz ~300 watt head with a tube pre-amp into the matching 2 x 10 cab. I love it!! It is hard to describe WHY though. It is nimble and quick to respond. Then when you dig in and push the input there is some new harmonic complexities and just a hint of snarl and bite. Again, I am trying to describe what I think is partly imbued by the tube pre, but it is the whole system. I also think I like 2x 10 better than 1 x12.
I tried GK, Hartke, and Mark bass and was unimpressed. They dont make Genz benz, so friend suggested I try the new Genzler amp/cabs that are similar, but....no tube pre!
I would like to try the Ampeg portaflex 50 which seems to be light enough and has all tubes or see what other small heads have a tube pre and solid state amp.
Thoughts? I would appreciate suggestions
I tried a Markbass combo in a GC and wasn't impressed with it and never looked at another. I used to play through a Hartke HA3500 with a 4X10, but it was getting too heavy for me and I sold it, and went in the direction of Class D amps. I tried the Aguilar Tone Hammer 500 for a while, but it didn't give me the sound I was looking for.
I got a new GK MB Fusion 800 (3-tube preamp) at a used price and a Genzler Magellan 800. Both Class D and powerful enough for my needs. I also have an AER amp three combo that I like for rehearsals and small gigs, and I have used it in small church services with Hammond B3 and drums and it could handle it. My Demeter Bass 400 (1-tube preamp) is a nice amp, too, but I think it's a little fragile for a lot of road work. I have used it in a coffee shop type gigs, but I've learned to be very careful transporting it.
I would suspect a single 2X10 cabinet with a small to medium bass head would be ideal for your situation. I would recommend the Genzler Magellan bass amp. I wouldn't buy a single 1X? anything cabinet because you'd usually need another cabinet to go with it for any future gigs. I only own three cabinets: Avatar 2x10 & 2X12 and a home-built Greenboy 12/6/1 cabinet. I have found so far that these cabinets are all I need and I've yet to even needed to run them paired. I personally like my CP Thornton better through my 2X12 over my 2X10 cabinet. Seems the 2X10 compresses the tone too much for my ears.

Wow!! First thank you for your detailed reply!! You have or have tried many of the ones I am considering and have greatly narrowed my list!!
I may try the magellan, but may only get the 350 insead of the 800. But will reserve that judgment until I try both.
Prior to the Epifani, i tried the AER 2 for a week. It was crazy loud for being so small, though it was only 200 watts, I told my friends that “its 200 GERMAN watts” and “they are just bigger!”
Will let you know when I select and why.
Would love to try the German “Eich” heads.
Sweetwater.com just announced their 36-months interest free 4th of July sale!! That TC Electronics Blacksmith is looking pretty nice right about now. But the real question is, do I need that amp???
