Hey Guys,
I am the least qualified here to talk about amps and cabs and that is a fact.
I went with the Genzler Magellan 800 and their 210-3 Array cab after a ton of research.
I read hundreds of posts from the GK Club, Mesa Boogie guys, Fender and others.
What made me go with Genzler was the direct response from Jeff Genzler when I posted questions
on their club forum here. .
He explained things to me without any sales pitch.
When I ordered through him directly he helped me out by throwing in a free amp carry case and a speakon cable.
I told him I had no place near me to test equipment as I am out in the boonies a bit.

I kept and keep hearing great feedback about both the amp and their newer Array cabs.,
they just came out with a 410-3 Array cab
Chuck thought the gear sounded good as I brought it to his shop when I picked up my bass.
So for whatever it is worth the interaction directly with Jeff Genzler was the thing that sold me in the end.

Right, the Magellan 800 is a very nice bass amp! I'm taking mine with my Avatar 2X12 cab and both my CP Thornton basses to an outside Wednesday Wind Down gig sponsored by the city of Douglasvilla, GA tomorrow. I'll get the chance to compare both basses in an outside gig situation. It should be interesting!!!

I have the BA12-3 Slant coming my way Friday, just in time for that night's coffee shop gig! I'm very curious as to how this cabinet performs!!!
I was initially going to get the MG212T, but it was suggested to me that two BA12-3 would be a better sound foot print with more flexibility (and lighter and shorter profile), so I'm starting out with the Slant model and then later add the Straight model.

I've pretty much only used Avatar, so this might be a huge improvement in what I hear.

I was initially going to get the MG212T, but it was suggested to me that two BA12-3 would be a better sound foot print with more flexibility (and lighter and shorter profile), so I'm starting out with the Slant model and then later add the Straight model.

I've pretty much only used Avatar, so this might be a huge improvement in what I hear.

I hope you are satisfied with the new cabs. They get good reviews from most users. Slant cab is good, has a different projection(good) from what I have read.

I have 2 Avatar 2x12's I use with my guitar amps, nice cabs.

I was strongly suggested to a Magellan and 2x10 Genzler, so I will go test and let you know! Guitar friend says that the smaller head is fine, but always good to have a little more than not enough!

Long overdue on doing this (apologies Chuck ). Like pretty much everyone here, I also own a Thornton bass. I have the 5-string, #B-026. I have to say, it took me about 4 years and several fivers before i finally found 'the one'. Worth the wait, and every penny. If you're here trying to decide on if you should buy one or not, let me push you over the edge - buy one.

Also, in case you're reading this and you've never contacted Chuck, he is a very pleasant man. I had a self-inflicted problem with my fiver (NOT craftsmanship - let's be straight about this - it was my fault), so after about three weeks of stumping a very fine luthier in town, I called Chuck. First words out of his mouth: Send it back and I'll fix it. That said everything I need to know right there. Building a fine bass is one thing; standing behind your work 100% - getting more and more rare these days. Long story short, Cherlene is back to playing as it should again (yes, I name my basses). As i like to say 'it plays better than i do".

Hey AT, thank you for sharing your bass with the guys. I'm glad you're still loving her after, I think almost two years. I can't believe that your serial number is B-026 because I'm shipping a 4 string down to the music store
in you neck of the woods that has the serial number B-026 which means I gave a 4 string & a 5 string the same serial number. I have never done that before.

Well, looky here! I saw this 'like new' BA410-3 and decided to pull the trigger on it. It is in like new condition, too! I couldn't be happier and saved some money. Now with a BA12-3 SLT due Friday, I'm in great shape for whatever gig comes my way!! It's lighter than my two Avatar speakers, which is real nice!

How are you liking the tone of that array? They are the best cabs in the market IMO.

@campbems, I haven't taken the time to compare it to anything I have, yet. I am expecting the BA12-3 to arrive Friday and I'm taking it to the gig I have Friday night, where I usually use my Greenboy 12/6/1 cabinet. I should be able tell a difference, good or bad. I only have the Avatar 212 at home to compare the BA410-3 to. My Avatar 210 is kept at the church I play for. I might make the comparison between the Avatar 212, the BA12-3 and the BA410-3 Friday in my garage in a side-by-side sound comparison.

Now with a BA12-3 SLT due Friday, I'm in great shape for whatever gig comes my way!! It's lighter than my two Avatar speakers, which is real nice!

Make sure you check the 410-3 ohm rating when combined with the 12" cab.
You probably know all that but worth saying just in case. Your going to have all the basses covered with that setup, pun intended

Right and thanks!!! Now that I'll have mixed ohm cabinets, and only the Genzler amp that can make the ohms adjustment, I'll have to take note of that. My initial inspection/test of the 4 ohm 410-3 cabinet was that it was very loud. I'm not sure when I'll need to stack those two cabinets, but I'm prepared if needed!

Although the Avatar sounded okay, the tone clarity and the in-your-face, air moving presence of the 410-3 was quite an eye and ear opener!!

My BA12-3 is due tomorrow and I want to compare it to my Greenboy 12/6/1!

Honestly all the Arrays have the same ability to blow your mind at what they put out all the way down the 10-2 arrays. I've never seen anything come close to the volume and tone they produce. They really shine in a full band setting as they cut through effortlessly with thick and clear tone.

I took my BA12-3 cabinet to the gig last night with my two CP Thornton basses! Now, when I compared this cabinet to my Greenboy 12/6/1 I thought they pretty much sounded very similar, with the BA12-3 having a slightly tighter sound. However, the Greenboy 12/6/1 is rating at 450 watts @ 8 ohms and the BA12-3 rates at 350 watts @ 8 ohms.
With singers, acoustic drums, keys (in the PA), lead guitar (first gig with the band) and sax the BA12-3 was somewhat overwhelmed. My Greenboy would have fared better.
I think at the next gig with these same musicians I'll either pair the Greenboy with the BA12-3 or use my BA410-3!

So, I initially had plans to buy a BA12-3 STR to pair with my BA12-3 SLT, but I got curious today and conducted another cabinet(s) comparison.

I figured it would be interesting to pair/stack my BA12-3 on top of my Greenboy 12/6/1 and compare this set to my BA410-3, which I brought up from an unattached building on the dolly. I set them up in my garage and, with no neighbors to really worry about, I was able to crank up the volume.

Both sets were loud, but the BA12-3/Greenboy 12/6/1 stacked, although sounded great together, were really no match for the BA410-3, rated at 4 ohms @ 1000 watts! I don't think I'll need another BA12-3 either since paired with the Greenboy 12/6/1 they provide enough flexibility.

That's great Nightman, it's one thing to read about different things of interest but it's another to actually put things to the test yourself. That 410 cab is beautiful and a 1000 watts @ 4 ohm should be able to handle most anything you would need it for.

Oh yes!! With these three cabinets alone, I think I'm pretty much covered in the bass cabinet(s) department!!
