The pickups actually do match the board, but they are finished and the board is not. The pickups also have a bit more birdseyes than the fb does, but its still purdy to me hehe. The knobs will be replaced with birdseye ones as well, but Pete didnt like the way the first set came out so he is having some more done up for it.

The top and back are actually Amboyna Burl, not redwood :)

And thanks for the compliments!

Thanks - that all makes sense - it is purdy all right:D (Oh and it sounds amazing!)

I will be interested to see the knobs as I am also think of using maple knobs on mine - when I get it:hyper:

Get those top few frets scalloped. That would be phat!

I think the benefits on a bass are very little compared to on a guitar, mainly because of the string thickness. It makes it easier to fret higher frets that have very little space between them (like angus's bass). Also, (i'm going to assume much more so on a guitar, again because of the strings) you can do vibratos just by applying more pressure on the string and pushing it into the scallop. Plus, (the main reason for having it ;) ) it looks bad ass.

EDIT: I should add, I've never played, or heard a bass with scalloped frets, only guitars. Just an idea I had when i saw that bass.
