CWB 12 - The Dirty Dozen

I will definitely keep in touch. I'll work on getting something on video. Got the Clement set up with half-rounds and ridiculously low action. Plays like a dream, unbelievable. :hyper::bassist:

Got a nice leather strap, too, but I hate it, LOL. Must be my damn bony shoulders...

Go for the buffalo strap. Seriously. Lakota Leathers. [This invalid link has been removed]

Call the guy up and ask him about show seconds. Pick your color from the website so you'll know what you like before you call. Then tell him you want one that's more than 80% hump leather with consistent patterning. (Hump leather has less stretch than the flank and belly. The hump has a cool veined pattern in the flesh, the flank and bell don't have as much patterning.)

I picked one up at the guitar show in January and it's amazing. Soft soft soft soft and really comfortable. I got a 2", but I'm keeping an eye out for some 3" ones, too. They normally run about $60, but a show second usually has a color defect or some other small flaw, so they discount them by 30-50%.

You can try mine out if you like when you're here if you haven't found a strap you really like.

So...

At the audition tonight we played the Robert Cray tune, "Phone booth". I was slighty rough the first time through and nailed it on the sesond time though.

Then we played Stevie Ray's "When the house is a rockin", That was tight in one take.

Then they threw a fast, but simple original at me and it went well.

Lastly, we played "Little red rooster" and we all had fun with it.

So...

I'm now a bass player in a blues band!!! (With a good friend on drums!)

Woo ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Hoo ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Seriously happy for you, Mike. Can't wait to hear the first recordings.

The three inch wide black american bison strap has my name on it. (It looks very comfy!)

(*high fives Mike*)

Nicely done!

Jackie called, her uncle in Chicago passed away tonight.

I may be Chicago bound on Thursday.
Man, you've been on a helluva roller coaster ride lately. Thoughts are with you.

Very cool please try a comfort strap. I will be strapping one on you when I see you......... Um ..well you know what i mean....:hiding:
I had a typically heavy Stingray a few years ago and tried a ComfortStrapp after having no luck with a couple of wide leather straps. It was noticeably more comfortable than any of the other straps I had tried.

Then I tried a NeoTech strap and found I like them even better. I still have the ComforStrapp and use it on my Precision. However, my other four basses all now have NeoTechs. They're similar (stretchy neoprene) but I don't think they're quite as bouncy as the ComfortStrapps, which is why I like them better.

YMMV

Mike, congrats on the band spot! Sorry to hear about the death in the family..you've had a lot of crap to deal with in the last few months.

[Invalid or Expired Link Removed] I have the 3" wide strap. It works well with my heavy SBMM.

Oooh yes! Honeyburst SR5HH's definitely have the official dave64o seal of approval! :p

Yes, we DO have the same bass. Here's mine:

It's actually reasonably lightweight for a Stingray, only about 9.5 or maybe 10 pounds. But the one I was talking about was my first one, a GORGEOUS SR5HH in vintage with matching headstock and a tort guard. That one weighed in at 11.5 pounds and that's the reason I ended up selling it and then later buying my honeyburst.

Here's my old vintage burst. Pretty, no?

Well, things have been a little crazy here...sorry I haven't been in too much. :hmm: Here's the best I got, all rolled into one post.

Mike, sorry to hear about Jackie's uncle. Love to both of you.

THand & Matt (if you're even still reading), HI!

Chuck, I'm with T2H on the pic. I like it. Sorry to hear about your mom. Glad to hear things are peaceful.

PA & T2H, I miss you chicks. You're both super awesome.

Thor, missing you lots!

DerTeufel, Dave, Tom, BassGen, Hi to you guys too.

Hope I covered everyone. :p
