In other news a little story about picking up the bass and amp yesterday.

Everything goes fine until I am leaving. It was as is typical of Vancouver this time of year pissing rain. The stairs leading up to the house were wet and wood and as careful as I was trying to be with the bass and the hard case I ended up falling and really buggering up my ankle.

At the very least the bass was unharmed. I will have to say that the experience on this bass is much different from my Power Bass. I don't know if it's the gauge of the strings or the bass itself but it's so much easier to play. There were a couple of songs, Mika's Big Girls and Blondie's Heart of Glass where it involves using the 2nd and fourth finger on separate strings with 8th notes and I can hold down the strings so much better. The amp that came with it sounds pretty good as well.

Fret not (pun not intended) Bubba will still get some love and attention once I can afford to take her in and have her tuned up and the strings changed. I do think that Lola will be my main practise bass to get my skills up to snuff for better Bubba action.

I'm glad that you got the bass, I'm sorry to hear that you messed up your ankle Deej. You and Lola will get some seated practice time while you heel.

I am sure everyone thinks your bass is hot, when you play it....ESPECIALLY the guys...

I think the thing for me was that I sometimes for get how different things sound when you step away from the stage. It is so easy to get involved in your own little world and forget that everything is different when you sit back, and just listen, instead of influencing the sound.

Today I went in the basement and played for a while. I played drums, bass and hand percussion for about a half an hour each. I am rusty, but servicable on all three. I didn't even mess with the guitars.

I honestly haven't been in the mood to play at all for the last month. Our last gig was December 10th with GRR and the 21st with Feral. I played okay at those gigs, but I wasn't at my best. The guys have been very understanding.

Tomorrow I'm practicing with the Green Ridge Runners for the first time since things went to hell. I'm going to stop to see Bob while I'm out and about tomorrow and see about getting Feral up and rolling again.

On other news, Jackie's uncle in Chicago isn't doing well. She spent last week up there. She drove back Saturday and jumped on a plane Sunday morning to go to Phoenix for business. When she gets back she is driving to Chicago again.

I'm taking care of the house and dogs. Honestly, I don't want to be a couple of states away if my sister gets a call that they've found Jimmy.

Whew....take a few weeks off, and miss all kinds of stuff :p
Now that I'm caught up...

Lee, that man cave is perfect. One day I hope to have something like that...

Everyone else : glad to see y'all had a good holiday. :D

I took a few weeks off of work, and did almost nothing at home the whole time. It was a nice refresher.

Last night was a quiet night on the CWB front.

Lee - isn't it amazing when you get to hear your instruments from a different perspective? It adds a whole new level of appreciation, IMHO.

Mike - I can understand your perspective. You and Jackie have had a lot dumped on you in recent weeks. Positive thoughts and prayers headed your direction. You know where to find me if you need anything at all.

Mick - Glad to see you back! Hope you had a great holiday season.

FM - Friction? I'm not sure I consider friction such a good thing. But hey - to each her own, yes?

In my world, I get to practice my Single Person Survival Skills until Friday night. :smug:

So far I've got:
1. Sleep diagonally across the bed.
1a. Beat the dogs to bed. :p
2. Drive the sedan instead of the minivan.
3. Don't shave or wax anything and try not to change out of comfortable pajamas for the entire time. (not even to go to the grocery store):D:hyper:
4. Contacts? What contacts? :hyper:
