Couple of thoughts now that I'm home from the gig tonight.
First off, PA we didn't do Rock This Town after all but did do Stray Cat Strut. Our guitar player really nails this tune every time, just love the way it sounds.
Tonights gig was a dinner/dance thing at our local legion. I don't normally go to any dinners when the band is playing, just seems to make the night extra long. However my mum wanted to go as she has been actively involved in the Legion for many years.
She's 89 now and I realized I won't have many more opportunities to spend a night out with her at a function like this. Its only since she moved to my town 5 years ago that she's had an opportunity to see me play. She said when they bought me my first guitar for Christmas in 1964 they hoped it wasn't just a passing fad teenagers go through. She never dreamed I would still be playing music 47 years later and getting paid to do it.
All in all it wound being a pretty special evening, one I know I'll back on and be glad I spent this night with her.
