CWB's and MoCWB's my birthday is coming up and since I got a tax return for the first time in 15 years I decided to treat myself. Picked up this G&L L-2500FL on ebay last night; further reports when it arrives next week!

Some of you have visited the web page tribute to the band I was in back in the 70's; well, there will be a 40th reunion concert of that band at an amphitheatre on the levy down town Charleston on August 23rd. The only problem is they want me to play drums, conga and banjo like I did then. Have to get my chops back in five months; gonna be fun...

I hope you're ready to cut through! Those basses are monsters, the MFDs pickups are by far the hottest pickups I've ever played and theyre just awesome. I ended up selling my L2K because it was tooo hot and I play with a lot of dirt and pedals so it was overloading my stuff D:

Awesome, awesome basses.

Keep me in the loop for the show. If I don't have a gig I'll try to be there.

great looking G&L fretless, 'crow. I almost bought this 1991 G&L fretless from Rumble Seat Music in Ithaca NY a couple of years ago. Funny - it's still on sale. Guess they are having a hard time moving it. It's a really nice bass and the price isn't too bad.

C3; you might need to alleviate Rumble Seat Music of that burden!

ah, I would love to do so, but it's a little too close to one of the fretlesses I already have (see below), so I couldn't justify it. I really don't need another bass right now. I am GAS-ing for a new cab or cabs, and am hanging out on the Amps forum looking at the Baers, the Glasstone and the Revsounds, plus of course the usual suspects. I also need a mandolin for Brooklyn to go with the one upstate as I'm getting the call to play some more mando in both bands. :bassist:

based on discussion with basswave and David, I believe they are 8-ohm cabs but the Revsound website says 4-ohms so it is a little confusing.

The most attractive option for me on the Revs would be to get a 210 and put a 110T (don't need two tweeters) on top of it. That would be 3x10 @ 4 ohms and would produce a lot of punch at a relatively low price, plus it would be easy to transport and carry. (They're very light.) I wish I could test them out myself though in an environment other than a hotel expo. In a perfect world I'd make a field trip up to New Hampshire which is not a bad idea anyway.

The other cabs I'm looking at are the Baers. They seem to be what I'm looking for sound-wise but I can't decide on the ML 112 vs. the ML 212. Seems like a lot of people go with two of the ML 112s and use either one or both as needed, but that's a pretty high-cost option (for me). The 212 looks awesome but it's too much for a lot of the gigs I play.

The 12s are on there way from England

Revsound has prebooked a few orders of RS112T and the RS212T we are working on the "Tribute" box as well.

Picture a 50lb 322 :hiding:

Speaking of mandolins, as previously explained I found myself in need of a banjo so I went searching last night. One caught my eye. Presently living on the west coast in LA; but hand-made by a man in Tunnelton, West Virginia. I liberated it and am bringing it home:

I did a roots guitar gig 2 years back. I had a month to tune up for a 7 piece horn band, relearn to read music for the 3rd or 4th time, get used to the tiny frets and relearn to mute as everything is in the b keys, and I avoid capo use on principle.
It was a ton of fun, and good to take yourself out of the box once in a while.

Sweet acquisition, G. Sorry I didn't make it through your neck of the woods this trip. Life happened. I'm gonna get there though. When I do, am I gonna get to fondle the basses? ;)

Lol. I don't know if there is any bass on the planet you wouldn't fondle.

Niiiiice. I almost bought a G&L 2500 tribute vs the 'ray. Maybe I will get one just because..can't hurt, right? ( until the wife bashes me over the head with it lol)
Thanks, DT. I am a real sucker for wood grain. But I have to ask you, how the heck could Mrs. DT hurt you by bashing you over the head as long as you are wearing that horny helmet?
She'd wait until I slept.

Take a tip from a real Viking, always sleep with your helmet on. :smug:

Crow, that G&L looks wonderful, exactly what I'd like to have myself if a 5 string was needed. They are really cool basses! And Chuck, I love the Sterling ... great fingerboard! Glad to see so many FL basses showing up lately!

Thanks, Ed! I appreciate the comment. If you check my profile you will find nary a fret listed. They really are speed bumps!

Yep, it is good to take yourself out of the box once in a while; especially when you are so close to permanently residing in one. I may have told y'all this; if I did please bear with me and excuse it as a senior moment, but I have four screws and a plate in my left wrist, ten screws, a plate and two rods in my back. I told my ex- that I wanted to be cremated and if they brought the vase and it did not rattle it was not me. ;)

That is perfect!

I too am full of metal. I want to be cremated so that I can be used as a shaker after I'm gone. I can be a percussionist forever.
