Damnation Audio Fan/Appreciation Thread

I've been liking the MBD + Rat combo. I've started running the MBD and Locust Star in parallel through an OBNE signal blender. Allows me to keep Rat's mids along side the MBD's heft, plus, blend in my (Edison pre) clean signal.. It might be my favorite most touch sensitive dirt tone(s) so far
I have the LS too, and most likely won't part with it due to its versatility. But man there's something about the RT and the MBD. God I want to play with a drummer again to reassure myself that it is a thunderous tone....

I’m the same way. MBD and a Rat has been my go to for the longest time. I used to mix in a Bottle Rocket for something different here and there but since the downsize I just use the Rat and MBD. Plus I got the MBD-2 now instead of the 1 so I can use that boost if it’s really necessary. I do miss having that third layer but it’s not essential. I’ll still use the Bottle Rocket in the studio though. That thing shaging slaps.

Will the D2 do a similar distortion to an MBD with the gain cranked high?

imo, yes. With the depth and tone set right, it can get in that territory. It feels like with the depth engaged, the D2 is almost like an MBD but with more gain to go. But it does become its own thing once you reach a certain point along the gains range.

Then it should do what I’d be wanting it to. Guess I just need to pull the trigger on one and give it a go.

So,
I have a couple non-DA pedals that can kind of approach what the MBD does, but never fully match, or beat it.

It's still the top dirt circuit, for me.
It's versatility and tones just kill.

Word is born!! \m/

It still makes me do a double take at my board, the MBD, from time to time. I used to swap out OD’s the first like 5 or maybe 6 years I really got back into effects. I was trying almost anything out there for forever. Like a lot of is do. Then I got the MBD1. At the time I could tell it was different than most. But once I got that sucker into a live mix and learned how it worked with my signal, it blew my doors off. And it’s been there ever since. And I haven’t even seriously brought in another OD to even see if it could compete. It rarely, if ever, crosses my mind. I just don’t see any other OD on the market today that could beat it if it’s the kind of OD you’re looking for. It’s sounds, feels, interacts and even looks amazing haha gush session ended :eyebrow:

Haha!:D
I get it.
I feel like a fanboy when I talk about the MBD.

If it wasn't so damn good, it wouldn't be my go-to dirt pedal.
I kinda stopped else I’d be a broken record every few pages on this thread ;)

but yes followed this pedal even in its prototype stages and was so happy when I got it... always seeking that something to work well with my five string active was a chore and this just worked amazingly.

I ran my Bloop underneath my board. I can now fit another MBD or a Dist 2. What do you guys think?

It’s something anyway. Just a quick demo I did around the settings I prefer. I switched the depth on maybe halfway though and it started clipped. Hopefully it doesn’t sound bad.

actually I switched it in on at like 55 seconds. You can def tell. And pay no mind to the last like 10 seconds. I switched my brown acid fuzz on. Just cause.
