So... I've had an MBD-1 forever, and it remembers its bypass state when I power down. I recently got an MBD-2, and when I power it up, it is always non-bypassed. Is there a setting I missed? Or did I buy a broken one?
They're all like that, and we all complain about it every few pages.

Ah, glad I'm not the only one with the always powered up thing no big deal for me since my MBD is always on for me. It's still the center of attention.
If I had a 400 to trade, I wouldn't be looking for a Buster, though.

How come BOSS gets a pass on defaulting to on?
I didn't think it was an issue but I have heard it is from folks so I have taken it under advisement.
Edit: This post is supposed to be tongue-in-cheek to be honest it wasn't an issue for me when designing it so I apologize to those that it caused issues to.

I ranted and raved at Boss because the OC-5 defaults to on. Surprisingly, they didn't change their pedals for me. They'll get no pass from me.
Oh, no big deal for me since my MBD is always on anyway. I just find it a little startling when I plug the board in and it comes on. Maybe partly because the light is pretty bright.
It's definitely not always-on for me, but I just view the light coming on at power up as announcing its presence.
One of the first things I do after powering up my board is activate each pedal to make sure I have no power issues. So, it's convenient (to me) when a pedal powers on by default.
That's actually a really good take that I hadn't thought of.

The biggest issue are folks with embedded systems or pedal racks in cases. They don't like having to give a reach around.
I had one pedal on my bored that defaulted to off. I hated it. I love having my pedals default to "on" at start up. MBD is perfect as is.
I like them to remember the state from when I power them off, and stay in that state when next powered up. Either that, or if there is an internal dip switch that sets it, that is good too.
