Now there’s a Bloop for $100 on Reverb. Not mine.

I went to look and they're already both gone I think!

I run a couple of MBD2's and swap the Curmudgeon in (for sludgy Weedeater tones). I use them all independently and don't need them in the same enclosure... I'm more looking forward to the CW fuzz, when its ready. The MBD2 can get gnarly and has no problem getting into fuzz territory either

But that likely is not exactly how a two pedal MDB would work. I guess that there is a slight convenience factor with an ABY switch that you wouldn't have to tap twice, but otherwise if I'm not mistaken Jeff has already mentioned that running them stacked isn't the greatest idea already. I get that everybody loves these pedals. I love my Curmudgeon, someday I'll get a 1 used or a 2 new, but this is basically a novelty thing when it comes to this pedal. Buy two if you want to switch between two separate settings.

Can get two sounds from one pedal that could be switchable mid song. On this pedal you set the Master, Pre, High cut and Bright switch and the "Sustain" which acts like a gain, you can set two different levels and switch between them while the pedal is engaged or off.

I remember suggesting something to Jeff like you posted right above. I even had a crude crappy hand drawing. It's back somewhere. It was basically an MBD with shared everything except two gain controls with an engage and also switcher button.

So just an extra gain knob tied to a footswitch like the common mods found on many dirt pedals. That’s essentially what the boost switch does it’s just not a footswitch.

Also, I vote for new fuzz. While a dual MBD seems cool I won't buy one.

The dual MBD clone arrived today. I'll start a new thread as to not clutter this one up. Short and sweet, it won't replace the MBD. There are some distinct differences.

Me too. I’m covered for overdrive but still looking for *the one* small format, <5 knob fuzz.

Regarding noise gates, they are great if you play certain types of music, but for what we do, it doesn't really work. I know I can dial in decay and attack, but I do want a very live unhinged sound that swells a bit between notes. Noise gates are a last resort. Solid advice though, thanks...

A good noise gate, like a real high-quality one renders these concerns negligible.
But I'm glad you got your issue sorted out. And not having to spend money to solve an issue is definitely a win!!!

I must admit I'm not anti-stacking MBD2's, I have done it before to great effect. I've done it live a few times and on the track 'Chilarity' here: Chirality, by Asthma Castle.

My only desire is that a dual pedal needs to really capture something unique. I've heard the feedback. It's on the list.

One thing I wouldn't mind being added to the MBD, or a dual pedal if it comes to fruition, is a mid switch, that removes the scoop that is applied to both settings of the tone control.

Maybe call it the "voice" switch.
Classic, and Flat.

I like my MBD2 a lot and I'm not in the market for a dual pedal right now but for what it's worth I really dislike the pedals that have the on/off switch and then the a/b switch. I find the dual stackable pedals with two on off switches immensely more useful. I do like the idea of one box with the MBD2 and Curmudgeon both in it. maybe with an order toggle switch. Just my 2 cents...

Well. Just played my first show in like 19mo. I was told by multiple people that I had the best bass tone they’ve heard in a long time. Not only did that make me feel great, I was also stacking MBD’s.

Can you share the settings you use? I did a ton of testing this weekend in the shop and didn't find really anything while stacking MBD2s that couldn't be made to sound better by just changing the settings on a single MBD2. For example, going for a high gain tone by setting one MBD2 with medium gain and then boosting it with another MBD2 didn't sound better than just changing the settings on one MBD2 to make it a great high gain tone. And then the boost MBD2 didn't really sound all that great on its own.

However, configuring one MBD2 for a warm tubey tone and the other for a gainy tone made for a killer channel-switching rig.

Based on everything I have read it sounds like an MBD-2 with a preset or 2 would more than satisfy those seeking the stackable...and I would buy an MBD-2 w presets (I would not buy a stackable double). Those seeking 2-in-1 seem to be seeking 2 settings more than anything since the MBD-2 is so versatile.

I just received my MBD-2 today. I must say it is a very nice piece of gear. Has anyone else almost kicked off a preamp pedal because of this thing? It is extremely versatile and I can see why people would want to have two with different settings (one for always on, & the other for more distortion). Thank you DA!

Also, this makes me less upset about missing the Azure Drive by 4 minutes today.

I may be putting my beloved ME Super 300 up in the classifieds as I think I would be better off with some kind of EQ pedal instead.
Also, now I’m thinking I may need a better fuzz pedal too. Not that the Pork & Pickle is bad, but maybe I need something a bit … more.

Yes, I am seriously considering going down this road. I find the MBD-2 to be very touch-sensitive, so it can go from rather clean to clearly overdriven-sounding without twiddling knobs during a gig or song. Most of the time I need a slight OD sound anyway. Actually, during my second-last gig I left the MBD-2 always-on and it worked perfectly for me.

So, yeah, thinking about building a small board. Current idea:

Bass / Wireless > HPF > Clean Boost (TC Spark Mini) > MBD-2 > Compressor (MXR? Optocomp?) > Fuzz (Big Muff Pi? ED Hoof?) > LPF > DI (off-board)

Clean Boost would either be always-on to give the MBD-2 a hotter signal (I play passive basses), or as a quick switch between "slight OD" and "more OD". I'll have to try out what makes more sense, noise-floor-wise.

Only problem I see is I don't know whether the MBD-2's Tone knob would be enough frequency shaping for my uses. I GUESS it is, but perhaps a semi-parametric EQ pedal instead of the clean boost would make more sense.
