Does anyone know the back story of the blacked out MBD2? I recently bought one and it happens to be black on black.
I don't recall any actual "backstory" other than it being listed on the site with a tag along the lines of "all the same tones, just harder to read!"
one of us has to change our display picture.
it was probably just a special run they did. They do those from time to time. I do remember those. Can’t remember if it was for anything specific. @father of fires ??
I’m probably totally wrong on this, but I remember around 2019/2020 there was a Black Friday partnership from reverb with several companies - they all made special black on black colorway pedals for this.

It’s a 9v onboard active with slight bass and low mid eq up. Doesn’t bother me as it’s still getting the distortion I want, was more just curious as to if this was just how actives played with that type of circuit (given the mbd1 takes it like a charm)
I haven’t tried my active jazz into the curmudgeon yet, I err on the side of trying to achieve bright tones passively
It sure is! It’s really attractive! I love how it looks! But it really is horrible to read.

I’m having a really strange problem right now and I don’t know what happened
My bloop is causing latency when I’m using modulation pedals, and I mean like a good few milliseconds, like I play a note and the signal is delayed before it hits the modulation. Also the left side of the knob’s sweep is completely turning down the signal, is it somehow thinking there’s nothing in the loop?
and my curmudgeon 2 has basically stopped working somehow? It’s in the bloop and it is barely passing a signal at all, even at maximum settings. I’m about to try the curmudgeon on its own & I will update
Update: when it’s taken out of the bloop the curmudgeon works just fine
Bloop is sending very little signal through the send/return jacks but for some reason I can still hear footswitch click from pedals in the loop at full volume
update 2: took the back off and didn’t notice any broken/bad connections or wires, also changed cables but still no luck. This is a huge bummer because the bloop is ESSENTIAL to my rig now
UPDATE 3: FIGURED IT OUT! I WAS BEING STUPID AND PLUGGED INTO THE WRONG SPOT ON MY MODULATION PEDAL! USER ERROR!!!

I had a similar issue yesterday. Spent a good half hour wondering why all of my dirt pedals seemed out of whack and needing adjusting for no reason. No biggie - I enjoy tweaking and could still get my old tones out of them. Then I noticed I'd accidentally cranked the volume on my compressor... Got that back to normal, and my pedals were back to perfect again too.
Gotta say, though, I'm still really loving my MBD-2. It's one of those tones that livens up my signal, but doesn't really change anything. Then you turn it off and it's immediately apparent how much it improves things!

I know exactly what you mean about turning off the pedal and realising how much it improves things. I originally got my MBD-2 for just an amazing beefy distortion but now have it always on for a bit of gain and to liven my signal like you do. I got a Curmudgeon Dist2 to use as the distortion pedal which is great but now i've done exactly the same as the MBD-2 and have it as an always on pedal after the MBD-2. It sounds amazing again with using it with light gain and the volume cranked and depth switch up. Now when i turn off my Curmudgeon it makes the MBD-2 sound significantly weaker! Having the Curmudgeon after gives all these extra nice harmonics into the mix i love it!

It’s done this since I first received it, it’s like a really high pitched squeal that sits above the standard noise floor hiss.
This isn’t like a huge issue or anything, but my Malekko Charlie Foxtrot will pick up this noise and do it’s pitch shifty thing with it, which can result in some pretty extreme high pitches through the tweeter in my cabinet
Has anyone experienced similar? Any fixes? I’m not sure how much farther away I can move it from the power supply, which is a CIOKS DC7 under a pedal train jr.
