the dirt fixer thing that has been mentioned? Any scoop on the differences? Im more of a simple pedal kind of guy so the one knob was appealing
I feel ya. I like the small form factor of the bloop also but I’m really excited for the dirt fixer. My bloop might hit the road after I try the dirt fixer
Dirtfixer has the same knob as the Loop Blender. It just also has more knobs. But you could easily treat it like a one-knob pedal and not use the other features.
true, but that seems like a waste of function and probably real estate. Luckily I saw one pop in the classifieds!
Spite box is really nice. It does better than what my Superfuzz -> curmudgeon chain was doing & doesn’t lose that stacked distortion vibe.
The noise floor on this is killer, Dave and Jeff really know what’s up
EDIT: I sat around not playing for like 20 min with the fuzz engaged and I forgot that the amp was even on. AMAZING noise floor

Got the 1/2 punch going on.
After getting it dialed in, I realized why I fell in love with this circuit to begin with.
The flexibility of the dirt channel, with the bonus of that awesome clean blend.
Punch, articulation, and good old fashioned grunt.
Im really not on the market for anything. But I wants. GAS is rare for me these days too.
Don’t think I’ve ever been stoked for a “utility” pedal, but this is different. Real eager to give it a spin
Does the Spite Box have the same low end weight the MBD has?
I'm gassing for a new fuzz and want something that can keep up with the MBD, because every time I switch it off it makes me a little sad. Right now I am using a muff style fuzz that is blooped. Sounds great, but looking for something different and would like the same "heft". Would prefer something that I do not need to stick in the Bloop and the Spite Box is peaking my interest. Any opinions appreciated, thanks!

So I'll leave the opinions part to folks that didn't make the thing but its worth pointing out that, while both pedals have a Depth control, that control is doing something very different in each circuit. The Depth in MBD is setting how much low end hits the clipping amplifier. Its setting the amount of low going into the main distortion circuit. In Spite Box the Depth control sets the level of a 100Hz boost after all the fuzz and distortion. MBD's Depth control is a nuance and texture control that changes the vibe of the distortion. Spite Boxes' Depth control is a sledgehammer that adds crushing low end to the final tone.
Just in - the replacement for the first MBD1 I should have never sold. All is well.

I see the Curmudgeon / DIST2 isn't on the Damnation Audio page any longer. Perhaps for ages, I don't know for how long.
I've been very happy with my MBD2 and was considering the DIST2 as a high-gain companion. But it not being listed on Jeff's page makes me wonder – too little demand, missing parts thanks to the pandemic, or something inherently "wrong" with it that e.g. the Spite Box fixes?
Any info, experiences, or suggestions on your end, everybody?
Edit: At the moment, I use a M:E Super Two Hundred for my base tone, a Broughton SV-Pre for low-gain OD, and the MBD2 with the +20 dB switch for high-gain. I'd like to move the MBD2 into the SV-Pre slot, and am looking for a suitable high-gain alternative, hence my interest in the Curmudgeon.

The Curmudgeon is my favorite high gain dirt box. It's pretty versatile tone wise, if that interests you. The breakup is different than the MDB's. Maybe I'm totally off on this but in some ways it seems TS like but with everything fixed so it can work with bass and then given a major extra dose of gain.
Maybe it isn't the best example because it is used here in a band setting. I tried to pick a song that had some bass present. But this record is all D2.
