Damnation Audio Fan/Appreciation Thread

I have had stupid amounts of dirt pedals over the pedal journey. I'm down to the MBD-1 and Amptweaker Tight Fuzz. Im mostly a low gain OD type of guy using a bass with flats, and only use one at a time. Those two are the few I've found that sound good with flats.

The vibe I get from DA is that it has the goal of keeping your rig simple and sounding GREAT. That's a philosophy I can get behind.

Look what was waiting for me at home..

:hyper::hyper: Please let us know your first impressions of the Par Drive when you get a chance!

You're gonna need a bigger board ;)
Mbd into the par drive is complete and utter annihilation. Imagine a mbd with a mbd voiced rat with the amount of bottom end of a mbd, if that makes sense... the ugly twin is obviously awesome, but it kind of needs the bloop imo to match the bottom end... I know what I am ordering next pay check. Also, I have my pt2 on the bench ready to be called in..

I think I'm going to put the LM301 in my PD @father of fires. How much do you think it will differ in tone from the 308??

Not sure. The 308 is getting harder to find. The OP07 is a fine substitute. The 301 is older and darker sounding. None better than the other. Just different flavors.

View attachment 3307064 So this set up is awesome, can still manage to hit everything properly too.
Further thought on the parallel drive, I think that it almost feels like an extension of the mbd, when stacked together, it kind of fills in all the missing frequencies. Jeff, you have an absolute winner on your hands here.

Oh dig. Hummingbird rules. Helicopters all day!

Not a direct comparison I guess but I have two LM301 based drives and they are two of my favorites. One is a Dunwich Shalashaska and the other is a Fuzzrocious Dark Driving. The 301 is best described as softer and more harmonically rich than a 308, at least to my ears. I think more people should make 301 based pedals.

I didn’t have a lot of tonal luck running the MBD-1 directly into my FX return by itself as a preamp- seemed to lose a lot of “pick sensitivity” and gain a lot of unwanted noise. Then again, I’m used to running my Rusty Box last in line so maybe I was just doing wrong.
The output of my bass is pretty high for being passive and is also extremely “quiet” (the inherent natural shielding of an aluminum body + single MM style humbucker) so I was surprised to actually hear hum w/ the MBD-1 bypassing my amp’s preamp.
ZERO COMPLAINTS though- got to spend the afternoon making the neighbors mad & still love the MBD-1 as a tone shaper otherwise.
Thanks for all of the recommended settings, they all sound great!

Right on man, but I was talking about in the effects loop not just into the return; i.e preamp send to MBD input MBD output to effects return.
