portaflexer's link Invalid Link Removedpretty much answered my question. Looks like this was a standard finish with no tape for 2006. What's interesting in the brochure is all models seem to have a clear pick guards, whereas mine has a black guard. Could be aftermarket.

I've seen Longhorn and other Dano guards that were painted on the back. The pickguard on my Jerry Jones Longhorn was painted gold on the back by the previous owner.

I will do. One of the better places to look for Danelectros is guitar centers used site. They tend to get korean models in often cheaper than what you see on ebay. Ive bought most mine under $300

I think that was one of the best things going about the clear guards aside from being able to see the burst colors more clearly. One can put any image they want behind it or paint it however they like.

I don't know if this has already been discussed in this thread (sorry if it has) but the new Danelectros are being made in Korea again. The Longhorn I tried at NAMM last month seemed to be as nice as my early 90's MIK reissue. The difference I noticed most was the metal bridge and wood "saddle" seemed a little sturdier, and of course the new ones have a truss rod.

I have'nt had an opportunity to check ot the newerst MIKs - but I have heard good things - and generally companies are only importing better products out of Korea these days since China is so much cheaper for lower end stuff, so I can only assume they are more or less on par with the late 90s ones.
As far as the bridge - that's good news if they've finally made them better (the Chinese ones actually were worse).
As far as the truss rod - if you're referencing 60s one - they didn't have trussrods, if you're referencing 90s ones (and all subequenst) they did - just body end adjustment ala Fender to maintain the look and keep the neck/head joint strong. The new ones have it at the headstock because so many people believed they didn't because of that feature (and it's probably cheaper because they can use more parts and tooling common to other guitars they're manufacturing there).

That I can't answer definitively - I don't have an inside track like some people on this thread seem to - but it sounds like there isn't new ones this year based on the buzz.
If you're asking if you can still get a new MIK - I'd say "yes" any new old stock would certainly be MIK because they've been coming out of Korea for a couple years now, so anything new on evilBay or Amazon or in an actual music store will be Korean.

The early Longhorns had a different spacing .

iamthebassman used to have a teal burst. Can't remember if it was a Jerry Jones or not. You could PM him. He's a lefty but it may not matter with the longhorn.

It was a Dano blueburst and I've sold it.

Yep, all basses in this pic have been sold. When I finally got my lefty Dano after 35+ years I sold all my other Longhorns except my Hondo.

That's exactly what I was talking about. I think it's a great idea. I've been thinking of finding a clear guard for the same reason except I would put my sister under it.
