My Darkglass 900 arrived today, this thing is a beast of a metal amp. I am using a FEARful 12/6. It even sounds surprisingly good with a guitar if you like Doomy/Iommi type guitar tones.
I thought i'd give people a quick walk around the @Darkglass M900 amp bag.. as its a decent wedge of money, is it worth it? I'd say a definite yes, because:
- Thick padding for above & below the amp, also for your back when carrying. Amp casing has no chance of being scratched.
- There is enough clearance at the front of the amp for settings not to be knocked or turned much in transit.
- Good anti-rip outer material.
- Decent heavy-duty clasps for the strap connected to the bag & a nice soft pad at the shoulder.
- x3 'extra' pockets. A long one down the side of the bag (i'd say this would be big enough for the Super Intelligent Footswitch), the front semi-circular one under the DG logo and an A4-ish sized one between the logo and the main case opening.
- The bag has enough depth to stand up on its own with the amp inside. (Maybe some feet on the bottom would have been a good extra?)
- I've fit all my normal essential kit (3x custom instrument cables, speaker lead, amp power lead) into it & it is comfortable to carry. There is some reasonable weight with all of that inside, but given that 30kg valve amps & flight cases can be dispensed with... i'm a much happier travelling bassist!
- Like all of Doug's teams products, it feels super-well made & as if some serious care & attention has gone into it.

I'm pretty inexperienced with guitar so I wouldn't know what EQ points are good for guitar. Hmm...but wouldn't the inherent darkglass tone also be less suitable for guitar then...?I didn't really mess around with the setting since it was mostly for ***** and giggles. Left it flat and cranked the B3k/blend to max, hooked up an Iommi Signature SG and started playing Electric Wizard and Sabbath. The EQ points are obviously suboptimal for a guitar, although an MXR 10 band pedal could help.
Depends on taste really, I play Sludge/Doom metal. It is pretty common for guitarists to use bass amps in those genres. YMMV though.I'm pretty inexperienced with guitar so I wouldn't know what EQ points are good for guitar. Hmm...but wouldn't the inherent darkglass tone also be less suitable for guitar then...?
cool! Learned something new today, thanks! It is pretty common for guitarists to use bass amps in those genres. YMMV though.
Kinda wish I spent the extra few hundred on the amp instead of buying the ultra and super symmetry

I'm still using my B7K and Super Symmetry with the 900.
I use the amp distortion for just a little bit of OD and the B7K for my really dirty distortion. My SS is always on regardless.
Buy the amp. Buy the amp. Buy the amp. Buy the amp![]()
I'm wanting to pick up either a b3k or b7k to go in front of my Mesa D800 and I wonder how the sound/tone shaping will be compared to just running direct into the microtubes 900. It came down to these two heads for me last fall and I went with the Mesa, mainly because it was $300 less
I have both the M900 and Mesa D800. I don't use the B7K with the M900 as I don't feel the need due to the B3K built into it. However with the Mesa (or any other amp) my B7K is always on. Not because the Mesa needs the B7K as the tone of the D800 is absolutely phenomenal, but the B7K with it is just pure heaven (as it is with pretty much any amp!)
