Dating..whats up with men?

Some of us guys dig large women. You just haven't run into one yet. Also take note what I mean when I say large--J-Lo is not a large woman, and neither are most of the girls on rap videos. Nope, rest assured that there are plenty of guys who believe that a 5'2" woman weighing 200 lbs is what a women should look like (those are my wife's stats, BTW :) )

I'll never understand how we went from Marilyn Monroe to Paris Hilton :scowl:

AM-FEAKIN'-EN!!!

I still don't understand how people find her attractive. You know how people have talked in this thread about biology and health being the basis of attraction? Well, to me, Paris Hilton doesn't look all that healthy. Her personality doesn't do much for her cause either.

I've learned that I really don't have a type anymore pe say. I really wouldn't limit myself to who I'd date just based on something like hair color or even weight. If I'm attracted to someone, I'm attracted to someone. End of story. I like smaller girls and I like girls who are bigger. There was a girl at my gig on Saturday who was a little round in the butt and mid section, but God was she freakin' CUTE!!! I wanted to walk up and start talking to her, but I prefer women to approach me at gigs. I always feel like if I approach a woman at a gig, they might think that I'm trying to be a "Rockstar" or something. LOL

I also really like older women. Older being women in their thirties (I'm 24). Some are a little uncomfortable with the age difference, but some are cool about it. It's a cool feeling when you flirt with one or ask one out. Their reaction is always fun.

With that being said, I do generally see myself ending up with someone who is college educated...or at least they are self-motivated enough to start their own business or find themselves into a job that requires a skill set. I'm going on to grad school for a Phd, so I really don't see myself with someone content on working at Sheetz for the rest of her life...but who knows.

I wouldn't worry to much. that's just a red flag saying that they are an insensitive jerk. they probably have a hard time relating to people in general I suspect.

I agree. It's much better to just suck it up and date someone who you are not attracted to. If you're too much of a jerk to do that, at least have the decency to lie to the other person and say you can't because it's you, not him or her.

"Honesty is my only excuse
Try to rob us of it but it's no use"

It's also nice to see how much you can tell about a person from a second hand account of a single incident. I actually have to spend time with people to tell what kind of person they are. You must be really smart.

i disagree.

if so, i am one of those "insensitive jerks".

i have over weight female friends, but i am not attracted to them.

regardless of their personality, i just find being over weight not attractive in the least.

we as humans can't control what we are attracted to.

if we could, then i could accuse a lot of guys in this thread of being "insensitve jerks" about ruling out skinny women on that basis alone.

whatever way we lean on the weigh issue, we can't control it. it's how we're wired.

to the OP- keep your chin up. sooner or later you will find someone.

Here. Lean in toward your monitor so I can smack you up side the head. A little closer...WHACK!!!

Now listen. The problem isn't that they aren't attratcted to her. The problem is that they are looking for ways to be hurtful when they tell her that they aren't attracted to her.

For example, when I still trained BJJ, there was this 280lb cop there, really advanced student. 280lbs, no neck, a layer of fat, and he did better cartwheels than a 7 year old girl. When on the ground with people, he would JUMP over them to get to the other side. Oh, and he trained like a Strong Man, i.e. 800lb tire in his backyard that he would flip. This man was definately in good shape, he just had an extra layer of fat. So just because someone is fat or skinny (up to a point, obviously) doesn't mean they are unhealthy. But it also doesn't mean I have to be attracted to them, either.
This guy you knew sounds like me when I was younger. I was way stronger than the average human, and frankly perfectly healthy, but I didn't look the way people expect healthy people to look. I caught whole heaping piles of grief for being fat, and have for most of my life. In the Navy I got into pretty frightening shape, but was still classified as 'obese' even though my actual bodyfat was 11%, because I weighed 275 lbs, when the chart said a big man at my height should weigh no more than 205 lbs..

The only times I have gotten girlfriends that were worth keeping was while I wasn't looking. Sad, really. I dated way out of my league while in the service. But those girls tended to be too crazy to keep.

"Looking for ways to be hurtful"?

All she said was "flat out told me that I was too fat". I don't find that malicious, I find that completely honest. If she had said "they invited me to a party and then told everybody that I was too fat to date" or something, then yeah. But from 1 sentence you figured they were being mean to her on purpose? Did you even hear their version of the story? Or do you automatically assume they are jerks?

Yeah, the body fat system is screwed up for people who are actually athletic. It assumes you do nothing but sit on your ass the whole day, which is why when you actually gain some weight (I gained 25lbs through weight lifting, but really didn't gain much visible muscle) they think you are fat. It's ridiculous.
