Bowie has been a part of my musical life almost as long as rock music itself and until now I always assumed that he wasn't troubled by mere human trivialities like mortality. R.I.P. David. It seems you were one of us after all.

The music world is changing. Fast. I'm not always hopeful about where it's heading.
But regardless, pretty soon we're all gonna get older.
Got up this morning and read this shocking news. I had no idea ha was this ill. RIP Thin White Duke, I loved your music.
I played last night at a little club and actually sang White Wedding. Like so many others, his music is still alive.

The amazing thing about Bowie is that he played in the most compromised and difficult genre of all....pop. And yet, he not only retained his artistic integrity, he pushed boundaries, remained fresh and pioneered. He brought art, fashion and that unmistakable but undefinable talent of "bowie-ness" to everything he did. In a pop chart of clones and plastic gay boy bands...the pop world looks strangely sterile and bland with out him.
I always liked what little I had heard of his music but just recently (literally within the last week) I started really getting into him and then this happens. Very strange timing and very sad. R.I.P. to a true legend.

While I was not a fan of his work during his golden years, I grew into an appreciation of his stuff as time went by. Oddly enough, when I think of MTV, back when it was actually Music Television, I think of David Bowie and his videos. Particularly "Let's Dance" and "China Girl".
RIP David, may your music live on in influence, and in the hearts and minds of your fans.

Haven't been this gutted by the death of an artist since I was seven or eight and heard that Lennon had been shot dead. So glad he put one last album out and that it is so damn good. There will never be another like him.
Raising a glass to a man who influenced generations of musicians. RIP Mr. Bowie.
My musical icon and teacher, David Bowie passed away, and very much of my youth's memories seem a bit further from me. Sitting with my guitar in my dorm room learning every song to Ziggy Stardust, pretending later that I could be Brian Eno, not....and starting me on my musical journey. As I feel a bit empty today, but David reminds me that "I'm not alone".
R.I.P. David. He always pushed the musical boundaries further and further and crossed many genres.
Woke up this morning and this news was on tv and I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I grew up listenning to his music and it has been a real influence in me. I've seen him live only once, in 1996, and it was one of the best concerts I saw in my life.
Still can't believe in this. Sad, sad day for music...
