Back in 1973 I was in my first band (in L.A.) and David Hasselhof joined as our singer. He was waiting tables, drove an orange Camaro and trying to become a TV actor. No doubt, we sucked terribly and David certainly triumphed in TV if not as a singer. But a good time was had by all and it was a formative time for me learning bass. Lots of fun. Anyway, thought y'all might enjoy these pictures of the band "PTARLAK" (tar-lock) to see how goofy we all were.:D

Well, here is one pic of David rehearsing. Cannot figure how to resize the whole group pics dammit. If I change the inches or pixels they crop and leave only half the picture---can't make the pics to 1200x1200 in their entirety. Frustrating

NOTE I just added a couple band pictures and flyer --(post #8 + 16 below)

Me and Tony (the drummer) are the only ones still in touch. Later in '73 or 4 (? --I forget which) David got a major role in the soap opera The Young and the Restless. He even got me an extra role in 2-3 episodes ($100 for a non-speaking part per show). After quite some time on the show he got that other show about talking cars or something (I must admit I never watched it). He called me up all excited about it, plus the fact the show gave him and his new wife matching cars. We drifted apart as he was in another world by then and I was just a street bassist playing clubs.
We did play some gigs while he was with us. David had been trained vocally for --of all things--opera classic singing, but it DID NOT translate to rock one tiny bit. But as I said--it was fun while it lasted.

BTW At the time I was playing my new 1972 Fender Precision through a Sunn Concert head with the matching 2x15 cabinet.
  6. Best part of the entire story :)

  7. That's awesome. Maybe one day I'll be in a band with someone that is going to be famous.

People make fun of Hasselhoff but you have to give him credit for having the determination to "make it".

Lol this a good share of history. I suspect you see The Hof in a different viewpoint than probably everyone else, but I cant help but laugh if Hasselhof is ever spoken of, mainly because of this video

    and the drunken cheeseburger video

That was at least 20 years ago.

Not that today's superstars were any less embarrassing...

I haven't read the whole thread, so forgive me if I'm being redundant, but which band on the flyer was yours? I'm pulling for "Balls" (pun intended).
