Deals you got on a bass or bass equipment that were UN-BELIEVABLE

I am going to list only the deals I got on equipment I still own:

2007 G&L L2500 fretless (mint) - $350
Epiphone El Captain - Mint $0.00
2011 Ernie Ball Music Man Sterling 5 (Ball Family Reserve) $1200
GK MB500/210MBE/115MBE stack - brand new - $650
1988 Martin HD28 - $0.00
2007 Lakland 55-01 - lightly used - $325
GK MB150S / 115MBX combo - $550
Mark Bass Compressore - mint - $75
Radial JDI - mint - $75
I have a slew of microphones (good ones) that I picked up for @ $50
Levis Leather bass gig bag - $0.00

None of these were trade deals. Most invovled me purchasing several items from one seller, and getting most (or all) of my money back selling off some of the same gear. Some are ebay scores, some even from Musicians Friend clearance + 15% off

I picked up a '95 SVT Classic for $600.. It was old and abused and probably not worth much more than I paid for it.. But I ended up trading it for a brand new Mesa M6 Carbine. I played one gig with the Mesa and traded it for an Ampeg SVT 2 Pro that didn't have a scratch on it.. the guy just wanted to downsize. So basically, I only have $600 in my SVT 2 Pro.

I also picked up a Fender Highway 1 Jazz a couple days ago in mint condition for $300.

1990 Tobias pre-Nashville Standard for $200
1997 Geddy Lee for $100
Carvin 15" w/ 4-10" and a 500w head, stack for $400 (the guy said it sounds like ****...turns out he never replaced his preamp battery in his new bass =p)
EHX Micro Bass Synth for $50 Still had the wooden box with the pink preset paper.
That is it for bass...I have found some screaming deals on Synth gear as well!

If that body is solid wood, you may have something really nice to work with... the body has sort of a Will Lee shape (or something... I can't put my finger on it, but it doesn't appear to be a regular Fender J shape) but looks like it might take a Fender neck. If I were you, I'd be all about replaceing the PG and moving the neck pup into proper position and getting a better neck for it.

The body is solid wood. Probably Basswood. The pickup is in a funky location, but the bass sounds killer. It looks like it would easily take a Fender neck. It wouldn't take much to turn it into an awesome Frankenfender.

OK, I'll play:

1 - traded a modified Squire VMJ(MIA Active Jazz Deluxe electronics, tort PG, finished fretboard, etc...) with case and $300 for a '76 P Bass with the original hardshell case...

2 - $400 for a '78 Ric 4001 with EMGs and a Ric hardshell case...

3 - $750 total for a mid 90s MIA P Bass and an '08 MIA Hot Rod Jazz, both with hardshell cases...

4 - traded a MIM franken Fender P Bass Special with a Fender hardshell case, a Peavey 115BX cab, and IMP2 DI for an '06 Gibson Thunderbird with a Gibson hardshell case...

5 - $1325 for an EBMM BFR SR5 HH, with a roasted neck, ebony fretboard and factory hardshell case, new in the box...

6 - $800 for a like new Mesa PH810 cab, less than 1 year old, with the original Mesa cover...

Those are all I can think of at the moment... I ended up flipping the mid 90s MIA P Bass with it's case, and the case for the Hot Rod Jazz for $550, and found the same G&G vintage Fender case the Hot Rod came with for $80 off of craigslist, so I have a total of $280 into the Hot Rod with case...

- georgestrings

1993 Rickenbacker 4001v63 Fireglo - $1200

1986 Rickenbacker 4003 WHT (had EMG Selects installed but original pickups were included) - $500

2002 Sunburst Stingray w/ Basslines pickup in the case pocket - $650

Traded a godawful POS 1968 Gibson SG Bass for an amazing '91 Stingray, straight across. I was only into the SG for $350.

Why be envious, Come on over and take her for a test drive, I don't mind sharing:D

I actually met another TB'r the other night unknowingly while doing another Craigslist deal for a P Bass, He was thrilled to check it out.

If your in VA stop on by. ;)

Wow. That may be the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me. Next time I am in VA, I may have to take you up on that offer.

Both of these scores I got in Spring/Summer of 2010. Pretty sure I've used up all my luck for a lifetime:

early 1962 P bass (slab board) for $950 (refin, jazz PU added, but otherwise original. Original bridge and knobs not pictured but are on there now)

1975 P bass for $600 (jazz PU added, duncan PU's). I'm putting some real early 70's PU's in it next week I just scored of Ebay! It's my main gigging bass.
