Dean Club!!!

Yours is a 2015 model and the last year to be made at the Un Sung factory in Korea which also made Squire and Epihone basses as well as some others.
Un Sung closed the end of 2015.

Other Edge models were made at the World factory also in Korea

That’s good to know, thank you. I suspect the previous owner didn’t take very good care of it in terms of maintenance (the body is virtually blemish-free) so I would like to breath some new life into it.

Deans have a bad rap here on TB. They didn't used to if you go back and look at older posts. Many post comments either based on entry level instruments or never actually touching a Dean. I believe they are hugely underrated. I tend to really like they necks on the Edge 4 especially when it is a satin finish. Thin, narrow and smooth non-sticky.

I get it that they’re not exactly a “purist” bass the way Warwick or Dingwall are (for example) but I don’t see any reason to hate them without due cause. I’ll wear my 230 proudly :bassist:

I believe @gebass6 and @Shaggai both had 6 string quilt versions. They might be able to share some thoughts with you about their experience with this model both good and bad.

Good luck with your mods.

Dean rhapsody, I believe . It was gifted to me 5 or 6 years ago and has been my main bass. For what people say about dean, this guy has been unstoppable!

The Rhapsody and Razor NT were both designed by Ben Chafin.
Many people talk about things without first hand knowledge based on hearsay.
As far as mods go, it is your bass.
I own several Deans including the Rhapsody models. They are truly underrated.

They still make the 12 string version of the Rhapsody...for 21 years now.

I like the shape of the Rhapsody. To me it looks like a poor mans Carl Thompson bass with a faux scroll horn.

His Razor NT was radical too

Yours appears to be a 2009 model.
It was made at the 'World' factory in Korea.
This same factory has made early 2000's Epiphones and Schechter basses.
They still make Schechter basses, though their serial letter designation has changed from 'E' to 'W' and on some basses a 'WK'

I figured it's not a big dollar ticket , but not easy to find. An idea to mod it was just out of wanting something different but i felt like I wouldnt want to take its identity away from it lol. It's always played well and has never needed much other than new strings and a slight rod adjustment here and there.

Oops. Lol I was trying to upload the pic of my dean, hit that pic while I was scrolling lol. I didn't realize it posted.

That's what might be my "Lycaon 8001"

Project, got a " cut your own shape" kit from fret wire and started of spitballing a ric style and its really a g&l in a ric skin lol ish. 8001 kinda a cool mash up hat tip. G&l mfd's, bartolini preamp, hipshot Bridge, running machines with an extender. Unfortunately I messed up. Glued the neck in crooked. Decided that the reason I went with a kit was specifically for that connection to be laid out for me. So I just spent this evening ripping it off. We will see if I can save it.

The guys here do a lot of modding. Some do kits too.
