His skills and chops are beyond dispute. OTOH this video evokes what a music critic said about Jose Feliciano back in the late sixties: "He can play anything on the guitar except music." I don't know anything about him so my hope is that this piece is not typical of his work.

Not really the best example of what he is capable of. I've heard some really amazing melodic stuff from this guy.
Everyone's entitled to an opinion, but judging a players entire career on a 2min clip is wrong.

Not really something im in to but it held my attention to the end. There is some really terrific stuff in there. There are tons of videos like this but this one seemed to present quite a few cool melodies and a concise musical statement overall.

Im not surprised by the hate unfortunately.

I would like to know more about how that type of sound and technique is achieved.

Im appalled at these comments! I mean everyone has the right to their own opinion but that's THE Evan Brewer! He's definitely had gigs on a legitimate progressive record label. He's not some bedroom player for sure! OP fwiw I think that song is epic, sadly the others on this forum have probably never heard the rest of that song he's playing which is much slower, not slapped, and beautiful. I dont think "just anyone" can play like that either, the guy can play 2 basses at once. Again, everyone is different so maybe the style of music is not their cup of tea but man I hope people arent hating on his talent. One of my favorite bassists for sure. Here is the whole song.
