Normally, I'd not be into a swirl finish unless it was absolutely, ludicrously over-the-top. But I think the reason I like the Combustion swirls is that the black-over-colour is a bit reminiscent of a woodgrain.

Goddamn - I only wish I could afford that right now, it's exactly what I've been looking for...
(my "dream" stable would be a modern Dingwall 5/6 string like a Combustion/NG2/AB, and a Super P 5)
Good luck with the sale, I can't see it being available for long.
It's clips like this that still make me wonder whether the NG or Combustion is the better way for me to go.
Still thinking the Combustion will be best as I have a bunch of Darkglass gear at my feet anyway. Can always add a B7K in an always-on fashion I guess if I want that grind/tone.
I'm guessing, but I think he has a little more than just the pre running on that one. But for those of us that like a clean(er) tone, I do wonder how they compare. From what I've heard, the darkglass can give some pretty decent clean tones as well.
Hello Dingwall Owners, I just received my second hand Super J.
Serial 4104... Has anybody an idea how old it is? I also need some help with the electronics...
The previous owner 'by-passed' the electronics but as I can see it only the batteries are cut off. Does anyone recognizes these electronics? I think it is Glockenklang.
I gave it a quick cleaning and also cleaned the pots.
This evening I am going to plug it in an amplifier, the first control is probably volume, the second is a 3 way switch and the other 2 I will see.

Yes, you have a Glockenklang preamp there. The second knob is a four-position pickup switch. The first position solos the neck pickup, the second puts both pickups in series, the third is both in parallel, the fourth solos the bridge pickup. The third knob is treble, the fourth is bass. Without any batteries, you will need to pull up the volume control for passive mode. The treble control acts as a regular tone control in passive mode. Enjoy your 'new' Dingwall!
That looks like the Glock preamp.
Controls should be push/pull volume for active in pushed down, passive pulled up.
Next would be the four position pickup selector. Neck, both in series, both in parallel, bridge solo.
Third knob is treble boost cut in active, tone control in passive.
Last is bass boost cut active, non functioning in passive.
There would have been two 18 volt batteries in the rectangular cavity under the pickguard.
Looks like somebody was modifying the pickup wiring on the switch. The super fatty pickups have four wires and sometimes users will change the individual pickup wiring from parallel to series.
The Glock is a very nice pre, but I prefer the passive sound and rarely use mine. I wouldn’t go so far as to totally disconnect it.
I’ll check my papers and see if I have the wiring diagram for the super j with Glock pre.

When did bubinga get added to CITES? I didn't think it was included in the recent rosewood ban.
@LaszNL you can e-mail the serial to Dingwall for a build sheet. It will have the date on it.
I believe it was the most recent updated to listed woods. Dingwall has stopped using bubinga as well because of this.
Yes, I made an offer on that I think is reasonable but not what he's asking. Still waiting to hear. That bass is exactly what I seek, I just wish it wasn't green. Really, only pink would be worse.
