I’ve got a GigBlade sliver (the thin one) and it holds a Spector Euro 5. Not sure how comparable the dimensions are, but the shoulder side carry design is convenient, with less height to worry about than a backpack design.

Gaaaah! I ordered a set of Nordstrand Big Singles for my older Combustion (factory equipped with soapbars). I received them and did a test fitment. They are a fraction of an inch too wide for the pickup routing in the bass. So... so do I rout out the cavities ever-so-slightly, return the pickups or... something else?
Wrong one, but similar.

Anytime we attempt to fit pickups that are not stock it can result in a custom install. If you are not comfortable doing it then take it to a tech who is or send them back. I have already come across this as well with the rectangular pickups.
Depends on how handy you are with a router. And if the pick guard will cover any tear out or chipping on the finish. Or if that matters that much too you.
How many fractions of an inch? Could it be a job for a really sharp chisel? Does the cavity just need to be enlarged, or is the depth going to need work too?
Maybe take a few pictures?
I would probably go for it with a router. Mask everything off, and use double stick tape to stick down a home made template, and clean up the corners with a sharp chisel. The pickguard should be easy since its soft material, maybe just sand paper on a block, or a good file.
Just gather the right tools and take it slow.

The Dingwall pickups are 4" L X 1 1/2" W X 7/8" H.
The Nordstrands are 4 1/4" X 1 5/16" X 3/4"
So... the new pickups are .25" too wide and 3/16" more narrow. Height shouldn't be an issue.
I planned on getting a new pickguard, so it's not a problem making a new template to take the new dimensions into account.
Now I'm considering asking Nordstrand if they will take the pickups back and give me credit against having pickups custom wound to fit the Dingwall pickups shells...

I wouldn't tell someone who's never used a chisel or router to go anywhere near a bass with either. Plenty of hack jobs out there as evidence as to why . Take it to a luthier if you don't have the skills and tools, or see if they'll put new shells on the pickups that will fit.

Just take flathead screwdriver, sharpen it up a bit on the concrete driveway, a ball peen hammer, and we got this!

I’ve seen a few righteous hack jobs. I’m sure this isn’t a kid and his buddies out in the garage with a Squier, a screwdriver, and some rattlecan black paint as an encore.

Hello all! I played a friends Dingwall the other day and was pretty blown away! I started researching them and was a bit confused. It sounds like most are made in Canada, but some are made overseas. Do you know which is which? Any insight into the different models (I get the P and J thing). Also, is there a good place in the US that has inventory? Thanks in advance!
Combustion and D-Bird Standard = Chinese built, with individual Canadian setup and quality control.
Everything else = Canadian handmade.
Dunno anywhere in the US with significant stock.
