How do you like the Roscoe?

It won't be delivered until next week. I sold my AB 6 string to help fund the NG3 6 but I miss having a 6 string in my arsenal. And I want to keep my proficiency up while waiting for the NG3. I'm not good at waiting. I couldn't pass up the deal I got on the Roscoe. It's a 2015 SKG custom in mint condition.

Not a stranger to this forum. ABHS Ducati white. Completes my return to long scale. Very cool bass. A chameleon. The sustain is scary, almost sounds like it goes into a feedback loop - that goes on and on and on...

HUGE props to @xnewyorka for making this happen. He did all the work! Sadly, I'll have to move the Super P/J at this point.

She's a beauty. Ducati white with the dark wenge neck and fingberboard = very classy instrument. Congratulations!

Was not excited about the rear strap pin being above the bridge as far as it is because my leather strap will not adjust and this will put the bass lower than the other, and it does, now I think this is a good thing.
I believe this is best for the five string and may be why some have difficulties with comfort playing on other five strings. I am not reaching higher for the B-string as it is now where the E would be on the four and so my fretting hand is not reaching up but naturally going down putting no stress on the wrist from a larger reach up.
In my opinion.

I have a couple straps that seem a bit longer and hang down too far. I envision I have a similar build to you. I like the Perri's padded bass straps - the length is perfect (configure it as short as possible and use the hole that ends up closest to the end of the wide part of the strap). The Dingwall strap is nice as well.

Here it is! Got it back from Mo today and it's absolutely perfect! Started out as a factory Combustion 5 3X with Dbird switch. The factory Dbird settings didn't really work for me because my core sound is built around passive tones like P bass and raspy Gibson humbuckers with more open mids.

I had Mo install series/parallel switches for each pickup and a passive tone control concentric with the master volume. He also installed a new 6 position rotary switch with the custom settings I specified: Neck - Neck/Middle in series - Middle - Neck/Bridge (Jazz style) - Middle/Bridge in series - Bridge

I swapped the Hipshot Y tuners for Clovers and installed a faux anodized gold guard from WD, they did a great job, perfect fit. This bass can literally do it all from old school passive tones to bright and modern. Thanks @maurilio can't wait to play my first gig with it this weekend!

So I've been through a set of 45-105 Dunlop Super Bright Nickel, the Marcus Miller signature and I just put a set of Super Bright steels 40-100.
The light steels feel great, but somehow I'm not getting any top end zing. The MM set felt and sounded pretty good, but I killed it in one rehearsal. They sounded like dead nickels afterwards.

I'm open to suggestions to other brands

Alder body with maple neck and Pau Ferro finger board. Transparent white finish. D-Tuner on the B. Haven't used this much, mostly backup and practice. Virtually no fret wear. Minty condition. Headed to the classified section soon.

I personally think Dingwall stainless strings are some of the best sounding strings I've used. They keep their zing for a long time as well. Not to mention the fact that they are properly tensioned for the Dingwall basses.

Agree. Long scale Dingwall and payson SS all the way.
Med. scale I’m loving the Dingwall nickels on my J. Them seem to perform better in a mix for me then the SS.

I played the new Combustion in church this morning, it was my first time using it live since I got it a few days ago. I know I'm preaching to the choir here but DAMN it was awesome! It sounded so full in the mix and even up and down the neck. I can tell this is the start of something really great, I'm super excited about this bass.

I used what I'm calling the "superP" setting which is position 2 on the 6 position rotary. It's the neck and middle pickup together in series with the neck coil switch in series and the middle coil switch in parallel. I dialed l back the passive tone about 40%, preamp was on with a small bass boost and mid/treble just above the center detent. It's a really thick but detailed sound, not overbearing and still has a bit of the P bass mid grind to help give it definition in the mix.

I was using the 'Super P' setting on my NG-2 tonight at church. When I swapped the stock pickups for FDV's, I hard-wired both pickups for series. Soloing the neck pickup really brings big, beautiful precision tones.

He does amazing work as many people on this board can attest. As soon as I got the Dingwall back from him I packed up a Fretless and sent it his way!
