I think a YouTube video of a failed QC bass going through a band saw would be incredibly sad. And viral!

Those are DR Black Beauties. They seem to last a little longer with the coating and have the right amount of "mellow" combined with sustain for the country gig I'm on.
@Sheldon D. ... Thank you for your explanation and taking the time to give it. That's the valuable customer service that I was talking about. Not as good a grasp as I would like. We've had ETAs quoted then delayed several times. I've made two trips to the factory this year plus had production managers fly to our shop for training to try and get things moving smoother. The upside being the quality is better than ever. The downside is quality at this level is not easy to achieve and has forced the factory to re-tool, re-educate, re-train etc which has caused unexpected delay after delay. Once we receive them, the basses still have to pass our internal QC where they either pass, get reworked in order to pass or get run through a bandsaw and re-ordered. Truth be told, until the bass has passed a 3 hr finishing labor, setup and inspection process and is ready to box up, there is no guaranty of when it will ship to the customer.
We used to have someone on staff who's only job was contacting customers with ETAs. It turned into a bit of a monster and was causing more stress for our customers. We have a team of web people working on a better way to keep people informed right now. In the mean time, we're doing our best to make sure that every bass that ships, meets or surpasses all expectations.
@johnsonabq I found out Friday evening when looking at my emails that yours has an ETA of January (but read my response below). Sorry, I have been away from the computer and have not yet emailed people who have inquired as to ETA update. Even folks that BE BASS have to rest every now and thenOr in my case, cut firewood, haul firewood, then come inside and drop.
Bear in mind this is when they arrive at Dingwall and each has to be gone through/inspected/adjusted/fine tuned before they can ship out. This process can take a bit. So I have no way of knowing exactly when they will arrive for us.
They do! No issue at all. If anything, the extra long scale of the B, works very well with the taper of of the string at the tuner end. Those hipshot tuners require a little extra attention when it comes to making sure the winding is as "nice and neat" as I like but, it's all good.I’m surprised they fit the long scale. I didn’t know that was possible.
Give me quality every time over guaranteed ETAs. And that is what we have seen, near perfect setups. Not as good a grasp as I would like. We've had ETAs quoted then delayed several times. Please bear in mind those are estimates. We have actually received some basses ahead of estimated time as well as later. I try to always communicate realities, and try to be very conservative when discussing with my customers the estimates of arrival. But even then, sometimes the delays just happen. These basses are worth waiting for. Thanks Michael! My apologies to all if I came on a bit strong. Due to my job I am a firm believer in customer communication. I'm not able to order a bass and sit silently until it's arrival. This is why I doubt I'll ever order a new bass. I just can't wait that long. But that's just me.
Peace out!
I would probably cry out OH NOOOOOOOO!I think a YouTube video of a failed QC bass going through a band saw would be incredibly sad. And viral!
Thanks again Michael. You have been great to do business with. I have never asked for specific time frames, just to be kept informed.Give me quality every time over guaranteed ETAs. And that is what we have seen, near perfect setups.

I got my happy early Dingwall from bebass, was not expecting it until winter time but it came in at the beginning of June at the start of summer season. Please bear in mind those are estimates. We have actually received some basses ahead of estimated time as well as later.

Ah, sorry, I didn't recognize the username. Your bass is ETA same as the other 6's I mentioned above. Getting closer! You guys have me wanting one now...although I would have to learn to play it....I am just starting to get semi-comfortable with a 5, having been a 4-string player for SO long.@bebass I do have an order with you for a 6 string combustion. You might recognize me by my birth name, Nick Marzullo. I greatly appreciate how you and Sheldon both try to keep us as updated as possible!
Looks great!View attachment 3257185
Happy Holidays!!
My conversion from Super J to Super JP is now complete. After getting pickguard quotes ranging from $80 to $130, I decided to make my own. $13 for material. I'm pretty happy with the results. Special thanks to @spiritbass for hooking me up with the P pickups and the pickguard tracing.
I have a video on my phone but it's not fun to watch.I think a YouTube video of a failed QC bass going through a band saw would be incredibly sad. And viral!
I just saw this and was reminded of a convo here about string spacing on a log scale.
Dingwall : OCCASION - Prima Artist 2005 - Spalted Maple - prix de base 5500E - remise 500E = nouveau 5000E
This older prima says 19mm.
That said it could be a typo but I do not know if that was a thing at that time.
Long scale @ 19 mm.
And she’s a beaut too.
