Yeah, that is for sure!
Believe it or not, the tone and playability even surpass its looks. It is a real Swiss army knife, and the only instrument a gigging or recording bassist needs.
It is now on its way back to Northern California where it came from. Its new owner is going to be very psyched when he gets in on Friday. He will be gigging it. It was a real crime to have it sitting here untouched and doing nothing.

It’s an interesting look but not for me, I can’t not see a bunch of spilt black paint.

Definitely depends on the bass. I was on the phone yesterday regarding my July build.
I came to my conclusion that I like blocks when: it’s on a narrower neck like a 5 string and the blocks are tastefully matched. Ie blue blocks with a red top is not my thing. I think the blocks start looking a bit bulky on a six string neck
I like speedo bars when: it’s on a wider neck like a 6 string. The arch is more defined. And if it’s a figured board.

I think i might go with blocks like that. They pop out very nicely on a wenge neck

They look great IMO.
I’m not typically a blocks kinda guy, and to be honest I was a little disappointed that this bass had them but the whole bass is so good that they grew on me and now I like it just the way it is.

I like blocks on the Supers, but I really liked the unmarked Wenge on my AB’s. The unmarked board with just a pearl inlay C on my Cirrus is sweet.
Is be good with a inlay D at 12th fret and nothing else. Large Luminlay side dots, rather than the Luminlay with the black outer circle.

Speedo bars or blank (side dots only). I'll do dots as well, but I hate blocks except in rare occasions (matching wood inlays in most of those cases).
I like the D inlay at the 12th.
I was wondering when this wood was going to catch on. Kiesel has been offering Pale Moon Ebony for a while. It is a GORGEOUS wood. You guys should go to the Kiesel website a see some of the stuff they've done with it. There are a few spectacular examples! It's not for everybody, but, man, it can be stunning!
The cornhole boards are cool, especially being bookmatched, but I agree with @TolerancEJ, that seems like a waste of perfectly awesome fretboard wood...LOL!
I agree. Every time I see exotic wood and somebody makes something out of it..... like a chair or something I can’t help but think that should have been a guitar.
FYI. When I started my fretless build just about 2 years ago I had asked for a pale moon ebony board and at the time Sheldon, IIRC, hadn’t worked with it. Perhaps that has changed since but previously was not an option.
Sounds like they are busier then all heck at the shop with some more excitement coming down the line. I’m super curious to see what he has in store for us. Sounds like headless and a new model.... perhaps one in the same.

did a little pick experiment ranging from .50mm - 1.14mm
