I wonder how many were made? I only thought the gold and white @ NAMM....this gives me hope to one day get one! I had to settle for a 4 string custom and a standard

I just can't vibe with the new shape.....although some colours do look better than others

Oh yeah, i don't play metal or harder rock at all. The pickup configuration is extremely versatile. The access to the higher notes is a bit hard but i don't go that high on this bass.. no need. I'd upload an example but talkbass won't let me..

I'm by no means a slap player, but I dabble a little. I add a good amount of lows, roll off a bit of mids and shave a little highs, and play with the bridge, or I play passive and adjust the amp.

The bass always sounds pretty bright when slapped, percussion sounds much more energetic and less warm vs. my 34" more of a "bing" than a "bong".

Well, people play for different reasons. I discovered that in my very first high school band. One of our guitar players was really good in practice...but we couldn't get him on stage.

To me, the crowds are why you do it. Also, once you get to a certain size crowd it feels different. There's less one-on-one and individual faces and more of a big wash of movement...it's less intimidating. There's a place in the middle that's hard for me...a few hundred people in a big space is harder than a few thousand people in the same space.

That crowd from the picture above (Grassroots Festival) was super fun, they were WAY into it and it was a late set (12:45 to just after 2am)...it was one of those shows where people wanted our setlists, empty water cups, etc.

You'll have plenty of beef with the 3X. I found I liked the bridge/middle series position maybe a little better than the neck/bridge series position. Still thick but with a bit more clarity.

I remember when I started playing live as a youngster, I would get nervous weeks before a show. Now I do get a little nervous now and then, but that's part of paying your dues playing out in bars having someone "air bassing" a half a foot in front of you and that type of stuff!

I find it easier playing for strangers than people you know. But, the best thing for getting over nerves is being prepared and and knowing the material so well that you can just do it on automatic. There's nothing worse than letting the brain get in the way of a good performance!

Same problem here, Just performed for church and did considerably better vs. last week.
Instead of looking at the chords and thinking where they are on the fretboard, I just listened to the band and played with my hands and not my brain- only lost place once when a song went an additional chorus than practiced.

First time playing the Dingwall for church! she really shines when it comes to held notes and adds lots of fullness to the sound.

Boy ain't that the truth! I seldom play in front of friends at the house and have a hard time getting started if I do, but when I'm at work on stage, not a problem at all. Actually I have little problem playing for people I know if they've come somewhere to hear me and I think it's really driven by not wanting to force people to pay attention to me at home, but at work it's actually what they're paying me to do. Glad to hear I'm not the only one who has to deal with that side of it.

I played today too. These things really cut through the mix. I had some issues with that before I got this in November.

Cool board. What is it?

The board the pedals are on? It’s a bug board (Link Removed). It’s made out of some crazy light, crazy strong wood. Goes together like a 3D jigsaw puzzle, with a pin that keeps it from falling apart. I never take it apart, but it might be good for flying or something. A guy included it when I bought a few of his pedals. They’re like C$78 (~$60USD). It’s good for it’s size. I’m looking for something bigger, that will fit the volume pedal plus a couple others.

I preferred to take Darkglass preamp, wengè fretboard, 3 x pickup with D bird switch

Ordered in December 2018, should come to the end of the year...

Well, dumb discovery of the day. I sold my original NG2 when I got my Dbird. I got another NG2 (early square pickup one), and had not realized you could move the pickup from middle to front position (NG2 to Combustion that is, makes sense, one body for both). I much prefer the to e this way. Waiting on a Combustion pg I ordered, but really happy with this tonal option!

Played the Payson Black Daggers more this weekend. Love the EADG strings, but the B seems very muted with a lot less growl. Not sure if its the coating or the lack of taper. Really bummed because the upper 4 strings are fantastic.

The B string is not taper wound, unlike the Dingwall strings and most of the other Payson offerings
