Dingwall Owners Club

Has anyone got a fret dress on their bass before? I'd imagine some places would be intimidated by the fanned frets lol....considering sending a used one I got to their shop if possible for some work.
It shouldn't be a problem. The fret dress tools (at least that I know of) are for single frets, so the fan won't change the procedure. Any component tech or luthier should be able to handle it.

That said, Dingwalls show fret wear differently to parallel fret basses. You see the fret wear very quickly because the frets aren't perpendicular to the strings, but the wear is always MUCH less severe then you think at a glance. Unless your bass has been played for many years by someone who plays A LOT it is not a problem.

You'll get that same assessment from everyone here, as well as Sheldon himself.

I understand wanting your bass to look pretty, but it's very unlikely that it needs a fret dress.

I'm not sure how much use its had but its a v1 Combustion (all graphics on PU's are gone) and the upper frets are a little odd.....
Bending strings buzzes out pretty bad on the upper upper frets...seems a little inconsistent.

Gave it a rough setup but when I return will do more

Payson True Flats (he also had ground wounds at one point). Love love love these.
Payson Fanned Flats

I also have TI Flats on my fretless.
Yup. Digging the Payson flats ALOT!

Here they are peeking out from behind a strap I made for Tim in FivealarmFunk.
Check em out!
Sorry for the weird derail

Since I currently own an AB 5 string and a NG2 5 String I'm going to string the NG2 with flats to eliminate redundancy. Anyone here using flats on their long scale Dingwall? What brand?
Do La Bella black nylon tapes count?

They’re custom-gauged sets from Jason at Fret Nation. Reasonably priced, and they have that warm, compressed tone that you get from tapes.

Yeah tape wounds are an alternative to rounds. I have used them on other basses. They were brighter than standard flat wounds, as the core is round wound.
