So I understand delays but....it is the end of November. That's no notice at all. Communication needs some attention. How long have you been waiting
Found out today that my "Done at the end of November" AB1 build has been pushed out 1.5 - 2 months.
But really, it's all good. This bass is SO gonna be worth the wait.

I hi-jacked an order from Jason (@SLaPiNFuNK ) at Fret Nation last March and changed it to my specs, so, in the grand scheme of things I am cheating the 18 month wait.

question for y’all: I have a slight fret buzz when fretting the 7th fret on my E string.
No where else.
I’ve tried different strings, no change.
Any idea why this would be?

It could be a lifting fret on the 8th or 9th perhaps. Could be a very minor and easy fix.
You could try running a flat edge over the frets with the neck flat and see if it “bumps” over a fret up the neck. Perhaps a small LIGHT tap on the troublesome fret will solve your issue.
Touchy issue though as if your not comfortable you should maybe visit a tech for this one.
Maybe it’s just time for a fret level.
I had this happen on a maple board once but with that Calgary weather is all over the place affecting boards fairly substantially.

How does it sounds in comparison to newer models?
I never thought that I would own both Dingwall and a kidney at the same time, but some time ago I got a great deal on Combusion v2.
Fanned frets are still a bit of a mixed bag for me (my accuracy is not that good if I'm not looking at the fretboard), but I was really surprised by it's sound. Really awesome tone with a lot of definition. Definitely not that I've expected from old entry level model.
I can't even imagine how newer or Canadian models sound like.

I think this little gem I just picked up sounds great and plays great. For a 10 yr old, 1st incarnation, production bass I’m really satisfied with its abilities.
But in all honesty...... I cannot compare it in any regard to any Canadian built I’ve owned or played. It’s not fair to it to hold it up to those standards.
On its own it stands very proud and strong.
Compared to a NEW NG for example, again, it doesn’t quite measure up again...
The neck does stacks up against any NG other then the fact I’ve never bonded well with laquered necks vs satin.
The tone however just cannot be categorized the same against the modern pick ups and Darkglass.
It’s been a while since I’ve had a newer combustion with the 3 band EMG pre and I would say it’s not too far off from it but still lacking in tone contour and overall inherent sonic baseline from the newer FDs installed in the combustion line but again....
To not compare it and just appreciate it for what it is makes it a completely fantastic instrument for someone on a smaller budget point.

Yeah, I got that news, also. I guess I got lucky, because one of my basses made it. I was hoping to have it tomorrow, but it got delayed in customs, so there's a super slim possibility I might get it on Saturday. Finger's crossed.
I can tell you exactly how long that bass has been on order. It was part of a 4-bass order I placed in Mar./Apr. 2018. I'd originally ordered an ABZ 4/3, two ABZ 5/3's, and an ABZ 6/3. After some serious introspection, I decided that I really didn't need two 5ers, so I cancelled one, which my man Jeff was able to pick up and make it his own.
So, yeah, I got the notice that my 6/3 and my 4/3 are now a couple of extra months out. Disappointed? Absolutely. Am I mad about it, Absolutely not. I get the 6er being delayed a bit. I made some changes, and it's gonna have a finish that's not too common. I am a bit puzzled by the 4 being pushed back, as it's pretty standard, but I'm guessing that we may have gotten caught in the NAMM build cycle. No worries.
Jason(@SLaPiNFuNK ) at Fret Nation has been FANTASTIC, and so has everyone that I've communicated with directly at Dingwall. This delay has a silver lining, as it has actually freed up some cash for other stuffs!

Installed the Payson flats this morning. A couple small intonation adjustments still to be made, but I’m super stoked.
Action is super low, and they feel great. I’m sure they’ll take a while to break in and get greasy, meanwhile, they sound great.

1659 Pages and could find the answer to my question, so...
Is it possible to Mod the D-Switch that the Middle Pickup on the last Position (all 3 On) is deactivated?
3 Pickups is just too much and I just want the NG and Combustion possibility without spending 65 € on a 4 € Switch

Oh, I'm more than happy with it. It definitely satisfied my curiosity about fanned frets and on top of it looks and plays great. I was just really confused by it's tone. I've always expected something more.. "vintage" I guess from the bass with Alnico II pickups (they do have additional "B booster" magnets installed tho). But even after rewiring neck pickup in series it still sounds really aggressive. Lots of highs, really nice and bright tone. My other basses sound pretty muddy in comparison now. It just got me wondering how does neodymium pickups sound like if these are considered "vintage sounding"

I hear ya on that.
I guess compared to other newer Dingwalls these are “Dingwall vintage” sounding.
Anyone else had a chance to try out a set of the Dunlop Super Bright's on their long scale yet?
I put some on this week and am finding them a bit less smooth than the Dingwall strings, not sure I'll stick with them.

With the extended scale your ears will need to adjust to the increased harmonic content baked into the un-eq'd tone. Try it on a few gigs or recordings to see how it blends into the mix. If you're still finding the tone too aggressive, the highs and upper mids can always be rolled off.
