Just spitballing off the top of my head but, what about a toggle switch for each pickup? The you can config as you please. Each switch could be a three-way with center being off. Up is on in parallel, and down is on in series. I'm sure I'm missing something here.

Or you could just install one big fat humbucker at the right position, a volume knob and that's it !

Following up, this is what happens if you try to replace the DP4T rotary that Dingwall uses and use a pair of 3-way toggles. You get 9 different combinations, 3 of each side are boring, two are the interesting series and parallel and one combination has no signal.

Just saw your combustion pic, and I'm wondering, what string retainer fits the original one? I'm about to go with the black hardware face lift and the only thing missing is the retainer. Cheers!

I couldn't find one that was a perfect fit but this is the one I used and it's fairly close, screws that came with it were no good though Electric Guitar Headstock String Retainer Bar ,49mm 1-15/16" ,Black | mLaval Guitar Parts | Reverb

Yes you are. It's easy to switch how the coils are inside each pickup (that's what the dingwall switches do), but more fiddly to effect a different arrangement of pickups where they are wired in parallel or series with each other.

If you have two pickups the series parallel can be done with a DPDT single switch but on/off is harder, for 3 it's really hard, and iterations with "off" and "series" are problematic.

It's instructive to consider how to wire up a simple Series/Parallel as well as a Dingwall 2x switch (note, this may be different to the specific dingwall one, but this will work

Got it. thx I may have to send my AB to Mo one day to have a 6-way installed. I really like the neck pickup soloed, but I noticed that it's harder to pull harmonics off. On my Combustion, the middle pup soloed is my favorite. It doesn't sound quite as good as the neck pup (IMHO) on the AB but I noticed harmonics are more pronounced. Must have something to do with where the harmonic nodes are on the strings in relation to the pickup.

Finally got my Nordstrand Big Splits, in Dingwall covers, after 7 week lead time.
They look & sound great . Much more musical on the D&G string than the original
FD3n. Very punchy, & with daily height adjustments I think I have found the sweet
spot. Life is good but lonely, lost so many gigs.

pup designs, let me assure you that there is. I really thought I wouldn't notice any differences. But the overall subtle harmonics are better & the low end is a tad tighter with slightly improved attack & when blending with the neck pup,
it really is fantastic.

Well, finally took the plunge and joined ( almost ) the Dingwall family.
Just paid the deposit on a D-roc Standard 5 string in blue-purple colourshift ( due in late summer ).
Can't wait

Pole pieces were reversed on the bridge p/u?

Congrats, you are going to love it!
In case you hadn't seen it, there is a video on YouTube showing the color from various angles so you can watch it changing in real time. In YouTube, search for dingwall blue purple colorshift.

Does anybody here know for sure whether the blue purple colorshift paint on the imports is exactly identical to the blue purple colorshift on the Canadian built customs? (If it is, it is absolutely awesome!)

Well my most memorable NBD has finally come. I was glad that Fed Ex dropped off an immaculate instrument today - which with the professionalism and packing of John Fox and then Mo Mina I never doubted.

The bass is beautiful, the neck and balance are perfect and the sustain and tone are of course wonderful. I'll save a more thorough review and some recordings of the 6 way switch selection soon, as I need to get a better handle on all the tones and options. My first impression though is that I'm extremely glad I sent the bass to Mo and got your help here as my two favorite selections so far are the middle only and the "d-roc setting of all on". But I love all 6 but have to make notes lol because some I prefer in passive, some active and some with various combinations of the S/P switches.

Anyway, here's a quick pic I took this am after getting it and setting it on the stand. More stuff to come in the future though...

Gosh that's pretty. I was looking at custom ordering a ABZ or Z3 with a wild finish, but I had a hard time reconciling spending that much money as a not-so-good player. Probably would have anyway if I didn't find the ABZ I bought off Reverb.
