Unfortunately I don't have those skills, but thanks for the suggestions.
my avatar used to be a half Canadian flag and half assault rifle that said no compromise underneath. It meant to me that I am a proud Canadian and I believe in and will fight for my liberties as a Canadian..... someone cried about it I guess and the mods removed it.
the new avatar is me being silenced from saying what I’d really like to here. I understand time and place but I honestly didn’t think that being a proud Canadian who believes in freedom would something I would get censored for.
I was one of those poor souls. I made the mistake of putting some low tack painters tape over the logo of my old Super J, thinking I was protecting it while doing some heavy cleaning. I about flipped out when I removed the tape and half of the Dingwall D went with it. I think the current headstock logos are much improved over the early silk screened ones. Most Canadian models now get inlays and I think the current waterslide decals get glossed over so they should last longer.I have read here one poor soul cleaned his Dingwall neck with something that took the Dingwall sticker off of it and I don't want to do anything like that

I didn't think I'd need two as I don't gig any more and only write/record/play for fun at home, but I found two smokin deals a week apart that I couldn't pass on. I'm glad I got them too, I haven't seen any NG's or Combustions that cheap since.
Heck, I have 3 Dingwalls and still sometimes play at the beginner level
I have 4 Dingwalls and most of the time, I couldn't play a decent solo to save my life...![]()
Ah.
I always wondered why you went from your previous great avatar to your new not-so-great-anymore one![]()
One thing really common in the music community is people who feel like they're not good enough or faking it or just being a fraud at what you do. I think this is a thing that all musicians of all levels feel to varying degrees regularly. It goes hand-in-hand with comparing your playing style and proficiencies against others.
It's good to remember that it's not a competition and it's not a contest. Be the player you want to be.
I honestly have no desire to solo...so I don't. There are places where I stand out a bit on stage, but I never think about anything as a solo, more of a 'what can I do for this bit that's rhythmically evolved or brings a new melodic theme effectively to this song. I'm sort of taken aback when I'm on stage & people in the crowd (especially other players) ask for a solo or after a show if they comment on a solo...Because I'm never ever in the mindset of something being a solo.
I prefer to mine the bass for the ability to create an emotive involuntary impulse in the listener or audience. The very first show I went to that had a bass player who 'captured' literally every body in a sold out room never took a solo but played so utterly deeply that I knew this was the path I wanted to be on.
Not that it matters, but I like the new one, too. I do have to confess, however, that the old one always gave me a bit of a chuckle in light of the "polite Canadian" stereotype. Kind of a "Get off my land...if you don't mind, eh?" thing.
Swerving back on topic--I now just need to rustle up a fistful of dollars before the end of the year to reserve a spot in line for the last bass I'll ever buy (a custom ABII-6-3x). Seriously--whether natural causes or my wife, it'll be the last. Blaze of glory and all that....
Oh, and speaking of multiple Dingwalls and poor playing, our album's dropping January 8. I suggested the title "Cringeworthy."
I'm looking to buy Dingwall FD3N 5-string round end pickups for my bass. Could someone who has tthese pickups please measure the width and length of the pickup? Thanks,
Marko
By my measurement it's 31 mm wide by 113 mm long. (This is the pickup from my NG, to be clear.)I'm looking to buy Dingwall FD3N 5-string round end pickups for my bass. Could someone who has tthese pickups please measure the width and length of the pickup? Thanks,

I may or may not have just made an offer on Reverb for a Dingwall I do or do not need, update coming within 17 hours.
