Lol, part of this is building muscle memory. I kept changing basses would play each one each day. Really took my focus away from learning which I desperately need. After I got the ehb i bought another 6 or so, kept shopping and trying out others but always came back to the ehb. It is the multi scale that just works for me. I'm set for a 5 string in standard tuning but I want a 4 string strictly for drop tuning and the droc checks all blocks.

Funny, I woke up one morning and said "I've been dreaming about this bass...so I ordered it."

...though my wife is not slow and realizes that every few years I'll probably get a new Dingwall.

We keep our money separate so there's never any issue with either of us pursuing hobbies. Mine just talks crap because I have 4 main hobbies and they're all pricy, and I buy and sell often in all of them. Believe it or not bass is my cheapest... behind guns, motorcycles, and cars.

I don't have any of those, and basses have been less of a hobby and more of a second full time situation for me for a bunch of years. We also maintain separate finances, but we each have specific household burdens we handle.

I rotate through the four basses, and I’m working on setting up a patch on the line 6 HD500x for each.

I’m trying to get that thing organized with the same effect on the same foot switch in each patch, and gain levels dialed for each bass. Then I can just put big labels over the buttons. That little led window with the mysterious icons isn’t cutting it.

Once I get one patch for each bass, I’ll build out bank of patches with different amp models and amp combos. The thing has endless possibilities, sometimes too many... reading the manual would be a great idea. One of these days.

The ongoing string project has opened up a whole new can of worms, and I have a large order from FretNation arriving soon. Between the Payson strings and other sets, I’m good for the next year. Looks like .080-.030 is the range. I’ve got a bunch of strings to play around with.

The Dbird got set up super light with old Dingwall stainless strings, and I just don’t get along with stainless. An hour and I’m done. The new nickel Dingwalls are first up for the Dbird.

There’s definitely something to be said for one main squeeze, but we are talking Dingwalls here.

Ive done that a few times now and I’ve crafted a few more to dream about but those dreams need to be put in a locked space.

Cheers to great partners!! As long as my portion is taken care of and I’m smiling my wife is too. I can usually check myself.... after I just step over the line(I put it there). Weirdly, the line seems to move around a bit though. :angel:

I’m starting 2021 with a mindset I need to make space metered me and my lineIts not gonna be easy though.

My intent when my fretless was in cue was to have 2 basses. 1- fretted, 1- fretless. Same model.

intentions were good but I ended up missing a super J..... and I really wanted to play with a Spector sound...... and I was curious about headless.. and I’ve been vibing on P basses....

But now I’m in full check mode:
-trying to muster the determination to part with a few. Just sooo hard to do.

Will TI flats fit on longer scale Dingwalls? I know that the D-Bird is only 36.5" on the four string, but is there enough rope to do 37"?

Jason at Fret Nation can set you up with TI flats for longscale Dingwalls. He will put together a set of mixed lengths.

The TI flat standard sets 344 and 345 will work on the Super. The B string is a .136 and not tapered at the ball end, so shorter saddle screws might be needed.

I had both AB-1’s 5 and 6 with TI flats, and I really liked it, especially E-C on the 5.

Once you get past the painfully bright break in, it just gets better and better.
