Dingwall Owners Club

See, you have a name for the band already. Who wouldn't want to see Bag Pipe Overload.
Dunno about that, but when I was living by St Louis back in the mid 90s, I recall going to see a band solely because they were named:
DON KNOTTS’ FUNK MAFIA

And?...

Don't leave us hanging like that -- just how were the DON KNOTT'S FUNK MAFIA boys?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Somehow Don Knotts, funk, and mafia just don't seem right in the same sentence. :D

Exactly! I had a mental picture of Mr Ferley from Three’s Company doing a guest spot on What’s Happening or Good Times (three 1970s TV shows, for the younger crowd).

Anyhow, this was like 25 years ago, but I recall it being very tongue-in-cheek.

There was a bit of a “funk/disco revival” going on in the St Louis music scene back then, initiated by a heavy alternative band called NERVE, who had a funk/disco side project called Dr Zhivegas.

What started as an after-show goof-off quickly became the HOT ticket in town, and Dr Z was playing 5 nights a week and regularly pulling over $1000/show.

Anyhow, DKFM was fun, but it was pretty impossible to compete with the killer rhythm section of NERVE/Dr Zhivegas…and all of the great local musicians that Dr Z pulled into its orbit (several who had been funk session players in the 70s).

I'm not certain that Dingwall would do that top and a black/white ceruse on the back. That'd be kind of interesting to see though!
Oh no? ;P

leaning towards a 6-string version of this with Speedo inlays, series/parallel toggles, and considering a transparent natural finish on the back (or white/black ceruse? hmm). Then I second guess myself and wonder if it's too flashy... Probably wouldn't even want to take it to a gig afraid to get it dinged, and then there's goes the whole point, right? ugh...

The fact is that Z got pretty round body edges, that means the side/back color is pretty visible from the front. So besides the ceruse kind of finish, you may choose some bright color to give a contrast on the top color.
Some thing like this:

Edit: Oh I just saw you already see that bass...
Well now you know what to do :)

Music has always been more than a hobby; as the LLC for my band proves. We moved to formalize once the income became too much to write off with expenses and the taxes started getting hefty. That was back in 2015-2016. Its been a second profession for me though one that never paid quite as well as my other work. But just the same, I maintain about 50-75K worth of music gear, so spending more just to do it isn't necessarily all that needed.

Yeah, the hives are going well; have about 100,000 little livestock in my yard. Just harvested about 60lbs of honey with probably 60-100lbs coming at actual harvest time at the end of September. As happens with music and brewing...the minute an item has a special use attached the price goes up. ;) So a plastic bucket that's a modified 3$ 5-gallon for brewing is 30$...and such is beekeeping too, etc. Though bee keeping costs have been reasonable, probably around $2k across a couple years for hardware (hive bodies, frames, tools, etc.) and that number goes down in the future since I'm not really looking to expand much more than a few hives.

I've been investing a whole lot of time in our property this year too. Not huge, but I've been installing lots of 'useable' plants, bushes and trees along the perimeter (raspberries, blackberries, elderberries & mulberry trees I've planted across the past 5 years from root stock), I've also planted a fair number of bush and climbing roses, expanded our vegetable garden, etc. I always do vegetables & herbs from seed as well as many flowers, including recently the 8 month process of germinating roses from seed. I've also just stepped up my indoor seeding/germinating/seedling setup as well to get that a bit more functional for the future.

...and I still have a pretty full home brew setup including grain mill and lauter tun that I need to get back to. I'd like to find a use for my honey with that as well as some other honey based projects I'm working towards.

...also maintaining an hour to three a day playing bass.

...oh and also still baking weekly, I've been doing that for the past decade off and on though. Everything from English muffins and bagels to baguettes & fermented breads (sourdoughs).

You've got your next costume for Halloween. Can you play bass in that (the first one)?

I think I get off easy this year. I'm playing but I don't think I have to costume. Special situation. :)

While I enjoy the spectacle and the surprise and 'pageantry' of it some of the costumes have created extremely challenging playing situations. If needed I could definitely do the white suit-breathing filters-goggles. Though the veil would be a pain.
