The Mesa Flavours won me over a few years ago.
The WD800 being my fav head ever for its rich luxurious texture which follows the Walkabout lineage but if that’s not a persons tonal goals the rest of the line up such as the 800+ overs a dynamite solid state sound offering.
Over the years the Genz Benz stuff has had a place in my signal chain and still does with my Jam Rig being a GB shuttlemax 12.2. So much balls and tone shaping.
So many great options out there these days.
I used to not want flavour from an amp and if I still wanted that transparency I think I would look to Bergantino but I’ve changed to appreciating additional seasoning from my rig.
I have a M6 Carbine here too and if I feel like taking down some aircraft I run that through a couple GB cabs(1288,212). It’s heavy artillery used for punching through heavy armor.
For recording, the DI on the WD is glorious. I didn’t like the DI on the TT as much for recording but for live gigging I bet the TT800 is a top contender….. I never got there with it and it didn’t fit my primary needs as much as the WD

Yeah it has a clean and dirty channel, and the dirty can do an even dirtier “lead”. I have the footswitch.

and the eq (for bass) is basically low mids, high mids… and sounds only dogs and guitarists can hear. I turn down the latter because it is mostly string noise. The frequencies are actually quite close the the high and mid dials on the darkglass preamp of my ng3


It is an especially nice setup for my stereo rickenbackers. Neck pickup to the ampeg and 1x15. Bridge pickup to the h&k for dirt. Pull the vintage switch to cut the bass to the bridge for that crisp distortion. Raging crisp distortion, and clean bottom end.

I play my ng3-6 through a Mesa Subway d800+ and a TC k210 at rehearsals, through the same d800+ through a Subway 115 at gigs. The 115 cuts though better, I recommend the Mesa d800+/subway 115 setup.

I like the Aguilar Tone Hammer 500 and DB410 cabs with Dingwall or anything. I mostly gigged it with the Lakland in my photo, other Fenders and a Warwick Thumb. One of the most warm and full sounding non tube amps I've played.

That head usually sounds best with cabs that have 10" speakers. 15's sound decent and any cabs with 12's I tried felt too slow and lacking high end even with tweeters.

Another vote for Genz Benz & Mesa.

Rehearsal/Back Up: Shuttle Max 9.2
Gigs: D-800+

Perhaps the question should be: what amp doesn't pair well with a Dingwall? :whistle::)

That was mine, you're gonna love that bass. I added the knobs, the straploks and the preamp. I probably put 3 hours of total play time on it before the trade. It's sounds great!

First punk band rehearsal with the NG3 tonight.

Question for Canadian Dingwall owners regarding relief ... Do you tend to stick with Sheldon's recommended height from the setup video or go flatter? Search gave me some mixed results on this..

The reason I'm asking is the setup instructions in the vid make my NG3 play perfectly, however upper fret access on the AB2 is a little awkward with the same setup. It could very well be my lack of experience with flat fretboards (warwick, spector, etc), but I was just curious what most of you were comfortable with.

I like a little relief but it’s usually pretty easy to keep a Dingwall fretboard flat. I find slapping easier/more pronounced (with my hack abilities) with a bit of space under the strings.

Hack slap is about my level as well, lol.. I'll flatten it out a little. Right now it's clean with a .015 feeler gauge @7th and it feels like there is A LOT of space between the strings and board at the neck heel. Makes chords and fast runs a little tough. Again, hack range at best, but I try hahaha!

I've never felt comfortable on a warwick or spector style (really flat radius) neck. It always feels like the G string is a mile off the board. It's probably why the NG feels more "at home" to me.

you should be able to get that AB quite low. The compound radius has never been a factor in getting low action. Honestly, I’d get it flat first and then work back from there.
