Dingwall Owners Club

I may be alone in this, but I find myself much preferring the Afterburners even after playing a Z. To me, the neck joint on the ABZ/1/2 is perfect and the body shape is much more appealing. That being said, if the Z a few posts up *fell* into my lap I don't think I would complain.

For years, I liked AB bodies way than more Zs. But now, the svelte rounded contours of the Z have won me over.

Having said that, I still really really like ABs and it took owning a Z for me to rate them like I do.

Yeah, but, still used :). Great to see Dingwalls holding (gaining?) value at least in the short term. Maybe I should finally sell my least two AB1s now while it's hot, even though they're "old" and certainly less desirable.
At this time there is no need for this bass to depreciate. It’s not a fender. Heheh.

that and there is a currency conversion that could factor in as well. It may be more effective for a local buyer.

Also the old Reverb cut, it’s at least 10% or maybe closer to 15% these days. I suspect that is a big contributing factor as to why everything on there is usually priced as if it’s made of solid gold.

Yeah. I'm just going to try local groups and the Dingwall facebook group, if/when I decide to sell. Avoiding Reverb and I definitely won't give TB money either. eBay actually isn't too bad in fees. We'll see, I'm in no hurry to do it.

i feel you. I have never played a z… but visually I prefer the body shape of the afterburners… and the neck to pickup look is great when the fretboard matches the neck wood. I think they look best in solid colours to highlight the curves.

however i think the z looks far better with the fancy woods/stains/bursts. It is a symmetry thing.

I would love to try a z. But as it stands… my ab1 is simply the best bass i have touched to date. The Neck is so great that i often forget it is a five. Excited for my six to arrive in 2 months.

When I had my AB 2 for a few years then finally picked up a Z at first I didn’t like it as much either. It was heavier then my AB and maybe that played into it. The Z did feel more solid which at the time I didn’t appreciate as much. Now that’s changed. I’ve reversed a bit. I think that’s why my Spector NS really attracted me. They just feel so solid.
I’m generally rocking a 10lb bass be it dingwall or otherwise. I do appreciate lighter basses and if I was doing 3 hr gigs I’d probably need one.
