Glad you got to cure your bass withdrawal symptoms with a new amp that 'works' for you. :bassist: It seems that most people who try the Tone Hammers like them. I have to ask - what is the pink box with all the unlabeled knobs and buttons? Randomly placed to make people ask questions? If so, it worked. ;)

Your right to accidentally put the first ding in your Dingwall has been preempted by his clumsiness - that's hard. At least he could have offered an apology. :eyebrow:

I am generally extremely mellow. After my drummer told me what happened he saw my expression and said "Don't hit him until after the set!" I was about ready to, I was so angry. I basically settled for calling him out on it right after sound check and saying I needed to retune my bass because the person working sound dropped it. Then after the set spent a good five minutes discussing the merits of paying attention to where you are, especially when near other people's equipment, not to mention the fact that most people would have the decency to tell me what happened. Oh well. Normally I keep her in the case unless I'm actively on stage but I had a wireless system taped onto the strap and didn't want to lay her on it and risk scratching her... good to see that plan worked out so well.

I have had on-stage damage occur , I can tell you from experience you will never forgive him or forget about it . Anything can happen on or behind a stage ,always reminds me of SRV's #1 which had stage lighting fall on it and break it in 1/2 right before he died .

Lots of wires with an OBP-3! If you use the mid shift function, be sure to use the pull down resistors. If you're not good at soldering or neatly wiring, take it to a pro!

I'll be able to take my time and I'm reasonably sure I'll be able to handle it myself. Are there good directions/documentation that come with the pre or at least out there somewhere?

Yes. Your pre should come with instructions + they are available on the Aguilar website.

What - you can't abide playing a Dingwall with a ding in it? ;)

Again, I'm sorry this had to had to happen to your beloved Combustion. Like Fretno said, the memory will be firmly fixed. Do what you can to prevent any similar future incidents, and move on to the next measure of the music. :bassist: If you do use this accident as impetus to invest in a Super P, all the better (says the infamous DAS enabler)... ;)

Just dropped in since Sheldon mentioned the hybrid treble control/OBP-1 combo. I'm sad he doesn't use his HTC anymore, because I love mine.

On the back side of the detent it acts like a vintage/passive roll off and on the front side of it, you get the treble boost that the OBP has on tap. In using mine for about 5 years now I've never had a problem. And the 18v OBP-1 sounds great, especially in the lows. Its slightly lower than my Monique preamp (around 40hz), so I tend to push it and my Moniques lows a bit then I use FDeck's HPF-3 to sculpt the subsonics out of my signal at 35-30hz.

Yes, Sheldon's custom HTC with the Aguilar preamp is really nice. I think that the Glockenklang preamps do that (or something very similar) out of the box, though, which is cool.
