Wow, nothing but crickets around here lately.
OK, feel free to share my pain.
Last night one of our guitar players just noticed the Novak fret system, in spite of me bringing it to twice weekly rehearsals and every single gig since I purchased it. Asked if he could play the Super J5. I told him no problem and handed him the bass. He then promptly stuffed the head of the bass in to the rotating ceiling fan while attempting to put the strap over his head. The look of incredulousness on my face had to be impressive. I had to go take a little walk to avoid going all Charlie Manson.
Fortunately, the fan blade hit right where serial number is. Left a stain skidmark from the fan blade.
And finally, he thought he would help me out by telling me that a bit of sandpaper would straighten it right out !
I told him that his logic for resolving the problem was on par with his skills at exercising caution with other people's instruments.
Do I sound bitter?
It's almost been 24 hours and I still feel the overwhelming desire to launch off on a 10 minute Turettes episode. This world still may end up short one guitar player by the end of the week.
Hey Zoomie, is there anything else the guitar player has noticed lately (besides the Super J5 and the ceiling fan)?

Man Z, that sux. Bumps and bruises are going to happen but it's a whole lot more tolerable when you(we) are responsible....as opposed to the absent minded guitarist or careless sound guy. The good news is Dingwalls are sturdy, robust and flat out hard to break!
The guitar player and I are OK. He's a really good guy and was just as upset as I was. While he may not have paid much attention to the Super J5, he knows it's my baby. He has seen it hanging around my neck far more often than my wife !
Last night I was woodshedding and it dawned on me that it's on the back of the bass and must be pointed out. I was really lucky as had it hit the edge of the headstock, especially around the area of the rout, the results would have been a piece of wood flying!
I'll hand him the bass tonight and let him have at it.

I just paid off all but a couple hundred on the Super P5. Sold a bass and decided to push the cheese to BC before it burned a hole in my Paypal account. Now I wont take a disposable income beating so close to the holidays.
Nine more weeks for me for estimated delivery date. November 8th.
In spite of loving the SJ5, I find myself wondering how the SP5 would sound in certain songs.
Cant wait to find out!
I keep wacking my Super PZ5 headstock into a music stand at practice and nary a ding can be seen. I don't know why I just don't move the stand out of the way, I don't actually use it.
We should probably fit our drool buckets (remember that old SNL skit?) under our chins before viewing pics to prevent shorting out keyboards.

I know it has been discussed before but someone tell me off the top of their head the approximate production time of a bass? Curious more than anything else.
IIRC, when I last discussed this with Barry, Super J = 4 months, Super P = 5 months. These were the only two models we spoke about.

Wow, that's a lotta love going in to basses. And yes I understand that there is not one guy working on the bass, day in and day out, all day, until bass is complete.
I suspect that work is grouped where possible.
Interesting that Super P takes longer. Any speculation as to why?

I'm guessing that Sheldon makes and sells more Super J's therefore his production is a little quicker as he makes more bodies/necks at a time?
I'll try to remember to pose this question to Barry the next time we speak. To my understanding, these are lead times from order to delivery, not actual construction times. I was guessing that the P's were taking longer because of pent-up demand. This info is from earlier this year when I was spec'ing my Colaburst SJ.
P.S. - I am still waiting for the new formula strings to meet Sheldon's standards and for some sets to come my way.

I alternated between those 2 for several years, until...
About 3 years ago, I traded my Z2 for an AB2 due to falling out of love with the MusicMan-esque tone of the Z2 and preferring the pickup arrangement on my Afterburner.
So then I had a "latest and greatest" AB2 and a 1st generation AB.
About 2 years ago, I had some financial hardships, and had to sell my original AB.
Then 9 months ago, I had to raise some $$ for medical bills and Christmas presents, so I sold the ABII.
From December until last week was the only time in 10 years that I haven't had a Dingwall around.
But last week fixed that, and I'm lovin' on this new one!
I got my Z2 a couple years later.

I was more curious about normal build time sands pending orders. I know that build time moves around depending on open orders. I ordered post NAMM, which is probably when they have there largest pile of orders.
I would love to go to the shop one day and meet the elves.

Hey, man - I'm glad you have a Dingwall to groove with again! I'm ex-Coast Guard. We always got called "Shallow water sailors". I never wanted to live on a ship - I got good grades in school so I could pick a land billet!!!
