Dingwall Owners Club

Wow, nothing but crickets around here lately.

OK, feel free to share my pain.

Last night one of our guitar players just noticed the Novak fret system, in spite of me bringing it to twice weekly rehearsals and every single gig since I purchased it. Asked if he could play the Super J5. I told him no problem and handed him the bass. He then promptly stuffed the head of the bass in to the rotating ceiling fan while attempting to put the strap over his head. The look of incredulousness on my face had to be impressive. I had to go take a little walk to avoid going all Charlie Manson.

Fortunately, the fan blade hit right where serial number is. Left a stain skidmark from the fan blade.

And finally, he thought he would help me out by telling me that a bit of sandpaper would straighten it right out !

I told him that his logic for resolving the problem was on par with his skills at exercising caution with other people's instruments.

Do I sound bitter? :hiding:

It's almost been 24 hours and I still feel the overwhelming desire to launch off on a 10 minute Turettes episode. This world still may end up short one guitar player by the end of the week.

:rollno: :rollno: :rollno: I've actually pulled this stupid human trick myself with a lesser bass. I feel for you, brother and applaud your self-restraint (so far). It's even worse because someone else did the damage... :rollno: :rollno: :rollno:

Zoomie, my motto in cases like these is:

"'Nuff men DEAD fo' less than that!"

I have a rule and that rule is that I wont own any bass that I am unwilling to take to 95% of gigs. The one exemption being those places where cans, bottles, and pitchers tend to take flight. And while I dont stress at roadhouse gigs, I tend to exercise great care to avoid potential accidents. I also recognize that since I take it everywhere, it will at some point show some wear.

That said, I'd prefer it through use and not contact with fans, the ground, or my personal favorite, the edge of any cymbals.

It is barely noticable and must be pointed out. To me however, it looks like someone took a hatchet to my baby.

I'll get over it.........in time..........with therapy..........and bacon.

I can be a very generous guy, I have lent my basses to people often, but they know that even without signing a contract, messing with my gear is like their life won't be worth living ever after.

Here is a pal borrowing 2 of my babies

Grand, I wholeheartedly concur ! Music is supposed to be about sharing. That's kind of the whole point of music.

This doesnt change how I feel, although I do belive that I will take a child gate to rehearsal tomorrow and put it between the guitar player and the Ding. For insurance purposes, of course.

And we missed you around here. I hope that all is well with you.

Yeah I am ok just been busy getting my mobility skills back on track, I have been going from pillar to post between physiotherapyst, lymphoedema massage specialists, and so I have not been too active, I am starting to walk again without crutches but I'm still quite slow for the time being.

Wouldn't it be cheaper to just cut back on the pints a bit? :D

I feel you sir. I did 18 months in a wheelchair and on crutches. It was a horrible experience and one that forced me to give up racing motocross and the thought of riding the recliner for another 18 months was too much to bear.

Get well, my friend. I expect to see a vid of you very soon playing bass on stage showing us your best Angus impersonation.

Jeez, how many of us are cripples? I should be a quad on a vent after my bike accident. Walking again is the bees knees.

Cripple in this day and age it's not a very nice word to say, injured would be a better one, people in wheelchair for life would be offended. I have a son in that conditions so I feel his pain. But let's not divert into a different conversation and let's talk Dingwall's has anyone seen Or Lubianiker's video on his prototype bass?
