The challenge, as always, would be defining normal.
I've also pondered visiting ye olde shoppe - hasn't happened yet...
3 weeks at the lower end and 8 weeks at the upper end would capture most of what we do. If there's custom design work involved, it lands on my desk and has to compete with everything else on my plate. Now we're talking years potentially.

Ironic that my first interaction with you was in 2003 when I called about a problem with the neck pickup on my AB.
The way that the BEA strings kept working and the DG went silent told me it was a parallel wired pickup.
(You, of course, took care of it immediately and apologized sincerely, a customer-service story I have told MANY times)
Now, 10 years later, I'm trying to figure out how to get a series-wired neck pickup into my latest AB...and he we are corresponding again.
My 10 years as a faithful customer is a small reminder of how you build GREAT basses and provide GREAT customer service.

As a small business owner, I have spent more than a fair amount of time attempting to figure out just how you make a shop work. In the end, I've decided it's just not worth the juggling and that you are surely a glutton for punishment.
I'll stick to the consumer side and just enjoy the fruits of your calling in life.

I plugged the Colaburst SJ into the Reeves & Baer for the first time this morning. With all my typical corny, tongue in-cheek humor set aside, it was a religious experience. Heavenly tones were abounding.
I looked seriously at the Reeves and The Monique as alternatives in the event that the Reiner wouldn't work out. Fortunately for me, it did. I am certain that you had some fun!

How many days until you get your paws on that Super P?
I ended up changing the recipe on mine. It's still going to be Sonic Blue, but will be ash/maple instead of alder/wenge. It's gonna be fun!
Zoomie both of those strings represent bygone packaging for the Super J the one on the left being the older of the two. The one with the Darth Vader geezer I think it was a fun experiment by one of the Dingwall employees I believe it was done as a one off in very low numbers hence that packaging it's very rare. If you appreciate how Lucas Arts are so protective of their intellectual properties and trademarked logos and figures you'll see how risky it was for Dingwall to continue to use that artwork on their strings. Luckily it appears no one noticed and Dingwall got away with it without being sued thank God 
I have two sets of strings in that particular packaging and I've decided to keep them as they are unopened because they are as rare as lawsuit Japanese Tokai Les Paul copies so you never know they might be worth something substantial one day

61 days, plus shipping from Saskatoon to Florida via customs. Then on to E Tn. That should add another 4 weeks.
It's killing me. I try not to think about it. The problem is between practice and rehearsal, I am on the NAV 63 P half the time. Usually there are some swear words in terms of playability. Tone kills, but lots of energy needed compared to the Super J.
I was forwarned in advance (via my receipt I think) no changes of any kind. That said, I have thought about it more than once. I LOVE Sheldon's Sonic Blue. I am going to miss my (faded) sonic blue P for its looks alone. Not selling it, just won't be doing much gig time on it. I haven't seen a single SB instrument in the region. It was so refreshing.
The Fiesta red is monster too. Beautiful shade.
Bottom line, I am sticking with the white. I love the concept drawing. I shall leave it alone to avoid risking potential misunderstandings, delays, etc. I know they changed their white to an antique. Hopefully, it pops !
Interestingly enough, after staring at the concept drawing for what must be days of my life now, it dawned on me that Sheldon never moved forward with the sweep angle on the back of the pickguard. That really complimented the look and angles of the Super P. Yet all production rear pickguards are North/South straight as an arrow.
This really is doing hard time.
I actually prefer the aestetics of maple FB's to all others. That said, they are just too danged clacky for my tastes. I make way too much noise playing one. Should I ever meet an engineer that drives mee nuts, I shall extract revenge with a maple neck !

I am one of those folks that is an orginal Star Wars geek. Sadly, the box had already been opened. And the box looks like it rattled around in the trunk of someones car for a year or so.
I'll save the box but run the strings.

Sorry for the confusion. That pic was only posted to show the pickguard differences. The bass you showed is the one that makes my heart go pitter patter.
I maintain my sense of humor to compensate for my general lack of talent and hacktacular bass skills. But, I ride a root note like a cheap tricycle !
Did you really have to post that pic. That thing takes my breath away. It would really good wearing a Super P5 skirt.
I do believe that my Super P5 will be spectacular from an aestetic perspective. We will know (not) soon enough.
Now I can join the Super P club. Should be here in a week or so. It's the one on the Dingwall web site for the P. nice dark sunburst with rosewood f/b! About 1 yr old. Probably going to have to sell the Z3. I'm thinking about a Super J or Super P/J too if I like the format. Fretless Super P. the mind wanders.

I have never played any of the big boy Dings. As an owner of a z3 and therefore comfortable with the subtle idiosyncrasies, I can't imagine you'll be anything but ecstatic. Love or hate the generic P design, I am still a firm believer that every bass player should own at least one P style bass, regardless of genre or taste in music.
As much as I have despised and avoided all things P Bass for the first 20 years of banging on a bass, I find today that I just can't function without one. How crazy is that?
I thought very hard about converting my Super J 5 to a PJ or JP . I would have already done so had I been unable to have a Super P built. And in the end, I still may change it over if I believe it to compliment the tone of the Super P.
I have spent the last 5 months dreaming about about a P that was created to address its bad habits, while protecting those things that make a P great. While there are many makers that have improved on Leo's original design, I think that Sadowsky, AC, Lull, Lakie and the host of others were afraid to stray too far from that typical P bass feel. They played it safe.
Sheldon is the only one that had the guts to take those one or two extra steps to provide us with his vision of what a great P could be.
My neck specs are identical to my Super J. It is the most amazing feeling neck that I have ever played. If the tone is there, and the sound clips support stellar tone, coupled with the best low B that I have ever heard, then bury me on the spot because I'll be in heaven!
Can't wait to hear your report and see the pics!
Now I have to fire up the pc and check for sausage finger mistakes on my i(too small)phone.
