PS: I go for a pretty conventional fingerstyle tone. Think P-bass with lightly broken-in nickel rounds, but with a little more articulation.
I was half-expecting that the ABZ would need some fine-tuning, maybe series coils at the neck or a P-tone to tame that edgy modern sound that everybody talks about.
I need not have worried.
I wouldn't say it was that much brighter than my conventional bass, just better. Rolling the tone control back a bit was all I seemed to need.
I got a nice, warm growl with both pickups in parallel, and a fatter version with both pickups in series.
Never touched the EQ on my amp...
