I want to add a "reach pin" to a stock NG3, can that little hole connector part be ordered anywhere? Is drilling and putting it in not a job for the faint of heart? Any pitfalls, if anyone has tried this?
I'm talking about the recessed Dunlop Straplok hole in the back of the bass. I attach the strap there in the (factory-installed) hole on my ABII, would love to get the NG3 to hang the same way (i.e. a few inches further to the right, so the low frets are closer)!

From memory you have to get a set of straplocks with the recessed buttons. I have installed them in a couple of basses (I like having the bridge side recessed). you have to drill a relatively big hole, and be careful with how deep and straight it goes (I use a stop in my drill bit) and then you dill a smaller pilot hole in the bigger hole for the screw.
I guess the crux here is making sure there is enough clearance so you won't drill through the body, and having a screw short enough so that it doesn't poke out of the front of the bass
It’s been hard to source lightweight ash for years now, and it seems like the community of buyers interested in quality guitars is not really interested in alternatives. Some high-end builders explored chambered bodies as a way to get weights down.
Higher weight wood stock seems to affect imports more than domestic builds. Some ash Laklands come in at 11-13 pounds and other brands do too. There still is lighter ash out there, but it’s a premium item and will be priced as such.
I don’t recall if Dingwall sources wood for the import lines and then sends it overseas, but the weight concerns of other brands starts with the timber that may be sourced from other parts of the world.

I’m going to keep this video in mind, for after I see how much I like my Z3’s reach-reducing socket.
I’m waiting on my Z3 too! In the interest of transparency, I’m waiting for my build slot to come up but it’s sort of the same thing!
About 90% sure of the specs, but no final submission to Dingwall yet. Early 2023 for that. Some sort of cool metallic finish, maple neck, wenge fretboard, Glock pre, no toggles, fretboard dots with a 12th fret “D”. Maybe Luminlay. What about you?
6-string, Wenge neck and fretboard, toggles, DGTC, blue luminlay side dots, turquoise pearloid speedo bars and headstock D, x-top in purple to turquoise reverse burst…with a twist brought on by the CNC carving of the body revealing some mineral streaks in the body wood, which is why there’s masking and a dark purple stain going on in this pic:
Something I've been curious about, I love the Speedo Bar inlays and I've seen a few basses with different color Speedos. Is there a list of available Speedo Bar colors?
There used to be a showing on the website where you could take a peak at available colours, but since the redesign, it's been gone and I am unable to find it.
I hope they get their website under control because right now there are a ton of dead links on it that lead to the front page only.
...but basically, any normal colour + they do offer some special stuff. Gotta ask.
Along with the colours above they will probably be open to other options as well.

Looks gorgeous already.Was just looking at this baby yesterday thinking some sort of blue with the purple reverse burst & wenge w/ speedos would be fire! I'm sure yours will be killer too!
