This Z2 is basically like a 2 pickup Sklar but with the toggles for series/parallel for each pickup. Also, it has a switch for mid eq freq selections, and to my ear, it sounds like one of the freqs is 250, it’s definitely a low mid, whereas the other selection is a higher mid. I really want to make it work for me, but it’s vastly different from what I’ve gotten used to on the Combustion with the East preamp. I’d be curious to see if maybe the bad volume pot that was changed out was incorrect and possibly hindering the output in some way. The previous owner only had the bass about a year so whoever repaired it may not have gotten it right. Brian Barrett at the Low End is a master at electronics and Howard Ulyate literally lives across the street from him, if those two guys can’t figure it out, nobody can….

sooo, I’ll call BS on what you were told. This bass should definitely have an active/passive push/pull volume pot.
Whoever did the mods may have definitely “degraded” the electronics.
also, the treble will act as a passive tone control.
also, the Glockenklang should be able to handle the 18v but I do believe there was earlier ones that were not designed for the additional voltage. Perhaps @Helge_Glock can correct me if I’m wrong.
That’s what I’m thinking too, but this volume pot is definitely not push pull. So therefore I can’t check it against just passive. But I can tell you the output is equal to passive on my Combustion with the same pickups….
This link shows photos of the current Glock 3-band. Assuming the distinctive red housings are featured on all versions/updates, does any of it look like what’s supposed to be in your eucalyptus bass?
It does sound like a less-than-qualified tech may have monkeyed around in there. Even to those who know enough to be dangerous, Dingwall electronics are on the deep water side of the pool. I’ve installed many Sadowsky preamps, but Dingwall setups are simply above my pay grade and I’d defer to a world-class tech. Luckily you are in a big city and have those available, in Barrett/Ulate/Glaser.

So, you are saying somebody has been tinkering around and, or, might have done a half sssd repair? No passive option? Sounds like a trip to a qualified tech might be in order.
The bass boost on my Glock was massive. None of what you describe seems normal.
I use the pickup height adjustment Allen wrench as a feeler gauge on the treble side of the pickup. And then balance the bass end input using a vu meter.

I’m almost a new Dingwall owner! Just picked an NG-2 that should be here in the next few days. Ferrari Yellow. Matches my Ducati. Mid-3000s serial number.

Speaking of getting new Dingwalls, how does it work with the Canadian models, do you order direct from Dingwall of from a dealer? and I'm guessing you pay a deposit and pay the rest before completion? I have a milestone birthday in 2 years so maybe it's time to place an order...
most likely thru a dealer. On the odd occasion if you just don’t have the availability to a dealer they sell direct.

yeah, I contacted Aussie dealers but since they are absolutely incapable of beating the mighty All Blacks they take it out on us by not shipping basses to NZ. That's why I got my Combustion from Anderton's in the UK.

If you have no dealers in NZ you can order direct you’ll just wait longer and have to put down a heftier deposit.

Nope. I run all my Dingwalls with Glock pres set pretty much flat and I get great low end response/balance. Something does not seem right.
