Hmmm. I think you’re right. Looks like a new colour added to the line up. I don’t think they’ve done red in a few years so makes sense.
kinda goes along with the celestial blue they just released.
Agree with Nate that looks like a muted red if you compare it to the old Ferrari Red (although the whole image is a bit muted there is still a clear difference to me):

I was tempted by this one when it was in the classifieds, but Fiesta just doesn't float my boat...
Every color in that ad is washed out. Someone forgot to turn off a filter on their phone before they took the pictures. Look at how grey the pickguard and bridge are and how “ashy” or dry white the maple looks compared to the Dingwall official photos golden hues.
I think the pickguard looks grey cos it has the plastic on it and its a bit of a strangely lit shot. I'm still on the this is a new NG3 colour train
Also the newer style NG pickguards are more grey than the older ones (the Ferrari red photo has the old style pickguard). I have no idea why they changed it, is it so they can make it clear that the pickguard is not really carbon fibre? It has a pattern on it that doesn't look anything like any carbon fibre I've seen.
I used to drive a red fiesta .. would have much preferred a ferrari.
Interesting. I read an interview with Sheldon where he said it’s not really carbon-fiber because his experience with CF was exposed fibers at the edges can rip skin pretty easily.
Personally, I think you could do a custom pick-guard without that problem, but put something like that in to mass production, and I can see his point.
That being said, I wonder if they forgot to pull the plastic protective sheet off before taking the picture.
Here’s my NG2 underneath the newer NG3 pickguard with the protective sheet partially removed. Now that I look at it, I prefer the blacker colors in the NG2. And the NG3 looks like 3D relief boxes where the NG2 looks more like traditional CF. Not sure anyone else will notice but those who are 12 inches away. Unless, of course, you leave the protective sheet on!
Eventually, I’m going to order one of those metal pickguards from Alperious. Or I might just leave it off now that I’ve got all three holes filed.

I originally thought my upgrade kit came with a knockoff pickguard until I took a closer look at newer NG photos. I really dislike the "3d boxes" pattern, so went with a combustion pickguard when I added the 3rd pickup to my NG2. I think I prefer having a matte pickguard anyways.Interesting. That is a weird tuning. What is the reasoning for that tuning.?

I think around 40 is a good tension. Assuming you have a 34-37 scale and assuming that most strings will have similar tension to Kallium....

I was playing around with the calculator but was just curious as to other peoples thoughts on gauges. 34-37" scale is what I have. I have the stock Dingwall 5 string nickel set on currently but was thinking maybe I'd need something different to compensate for having to tune strings up.
Have you tried retuning your current strings yet? The strings tuned up 1/2 step will definitely be tighter, but I don't think they'd break.
And I've definitely detuned stock Dingwall strings a whole step and found them comfortable to play on, so half step down on 2 strings should be just fine.
Gotta say, "drop Eb/D#" is a weird tuning. Is that just 1/2 step down from standard, or are we talking an octave plus a half step down?
Hmmm.... Interesting. This does seem to be a slightly different color than the old "Ferrari red" NGs that they made up until 2019. Also this seems to be brand new. I looked on Dingwall's Instagram and they haven't said anything about a new NG color... I guess we'll have to wait and see. It does say that its brand new though, and it's newly listed. I think I'll keep my eye on that
