They said they’d make FDV in square covers?? I inquired and was pointed to Nordstrand to replace my square FD3. I do like Nordstrand pickups, though.

I’m as surprised as you, don’t worry. I currently have the Nordstrand FD3s in my Combustion because last time I asked they pointed me there too.

I’m half expecting to receive the wrong thing, but I’ll have some faith in the company that has been accommodating to my odd requests a few times at this point.

Curious, is yours Northern Ash/Swamp ash? I chose Northern Ash/Alder for mine. The one with the arrow pointed at it has me wondering... I'm getting a 6 as well - you can't see the pup routes on that one at all so no indication there. The grain pattern looks more like ash to me as well, but I'm not 100% sure.

If we widen our scope a bit, I might. There were few enough D-Bird standards that it’s entirely possible that my two were in for setup and shipping, to their original owners, at the same time.

If anyone was it wondering, they’re 47 serial numbers apart. There were, what, 100, 150 D-Bird Standards? Anyone know if they came to Dingwall and shipped as one big lot, or in batches?

Sure, none of this matters, but I do idly wonder about some pretty trivial things, sometimes.

I did something. It's still listed on the 'verb, but I bought through Music Loft's site. I never would have picked the color if ordering, but it kinda works with the wedge neck. Other than that it had all the features that I would have ordered and I guess that when it's listed multiple places, I really can't say I've purchased it until I get the shipping notification, but hopefully otherwise, I think I'll have a new bass in a few days.

I've been holding off on placing an order because when there is an 18 month wait, it kills my need for instant gratification. But this bass was there, it available now, and pretty much what I would have ordered anyways, so.....

But, I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much until I see the shipping notification.

I recently saw that bass on insta and was surprised by how much I like the ferrari red as a matte color. Bold, but works great with the dark neck.

It’s the Glock pre and P-Tone pickups. The pickups are the gamble, but if it come from Dingwall it’s going to be good. I think I’m safe.

Yeah, it's all P-tones so it will be different.

Hey all, first post on the Dingwall thread. Just got a used Combustion 5 half a year ago and have been really enjoying its sound and playability. I have run into one problem though: the pickup selector no longer seems to work. Through the help of this forum (in particular from the quoted post below) I believe the issue is from a snapped wire connecting to the pup selector, which is further caused from the selector itself being rather "mobile", if you will. Here's a video of what I mean:



It seems the best solution would be to replace the wire, find where it's supposed to be attached to on the green part of the selector, and make sure the pot stops moving. Can I just glue the pot down, or is there something else I should do?

I'm not opposed to bringing it into a shop or having someone else fix it, but I'd like to save money and learn how to fix it on my own if possible.

It sounds like the mounting nut is slightly loose. Pull off the knob. Then use a socket (just the socket without the wrench) to snug it up. Be careful to not over tighten or you will crush the wood.
