I had the opportunity to do a setup for a Chinese D-Roc 5 today, and I can confirm that it doesn't differ from my Korean one in any way related to quality. The only difference I could spot is that the fret slots are sawn through and then the edges are filled, while on the Korean one the fretslots are probably CNC'd, leaving the edge of the fretboard intact.

Why not?

Has the quality declined?

Has the customer service declined?

Has inflation magically ended?
I never complained about quality (besides hardware, those tuners are just awful as well as the former cosmo black bridge) or customer service, and as far as I'm aware (I'm an engineer, not an economist), inflation in the northern hemisphere since 2019 (when a brand new NG cost was around 1.5k, and when the supply was pretty far from demand) is nowhere near 100%. I would not complain to pay 3k or more for a custom though.

Even though I get your drift, let‘s compare apples to apples: I paid 1.800 (of the same currency as above, in the same country as the seller) in 2018 for a black NG-2 four-string, so I think your numbers may be at least a little off.

Still, with these prices I‘m very much leaning towards buying used customs rather than new imports, but that’s just me. (By the way, new-to-me bass day incoming. Almost there.)

Ok yeah, to be fair I payed 1.6k-ish € in 2019 from the Bass Gallery (before Brexit) for my 5-string green NG-2. But you got my drift

And I completely agree with your second statement.

I thought all D-Roc 5's were made in Korea, when did they switch manufacturing?
