Well I played with my Band and played my super PJ and It made a difference. Cut through like butter.

I don't know if anyone follows Ayumu, but... 26 frets, 32"-34"! I'd reckon it's a pretty unique offering.

I’ll be honest, this is probably the last set of specs most people want in a Dingwall. Ayumu can obviously play, but I don’t envision this being a massively popular model if it’s not just a one-off.

I always thought a 36" - 33" (5-string) would be interesting. They could call it the STD model (split the difference) between the regular extra long scales and the Super Series models. Same fan spread, but over different scale lengths.

Not 100% sure but I don’t think I’d actively seek out getting an STD

Good luck in your quest! Something will pop up. I feel bass direct often has something spec’d in a similar fashion on order or in stock.

I didn't say so at the time, but thank you for the in-depth comparison with FDV's, it was excellent. The only FDV's I have are in a 3x AB-4, which is a completely different animal. I was playing my five-string SJ with (2x) Super Fatties this morning through my Reeves C225 and two MAS 110 Bodai cabs. Both pickups are hard-wired in series and I run them in parallel. Simply glorious tone and response.

They also changed the position of the vertical fret (~12th) by having the bridge saddles less slanted, which is a major modification I think?

Thanks for the detailed descriptions. This confirms P-tone+SFiis and Neve preamp on my SJ5 build - hoping that will save me from wanting a 4th Dingwall/passive SP

I can only imagine it'll be a small batch like the Kyle Konkiel basses. They're already a small player so I can't imagine it'll sell a bunch of units...

After my wait, my new Super J5 is finally ready!!!! Shipping from my dealer today! I got the new Neve Preamp and P-Tone/SFII/SFII pickups. Went pretty over the top with options but it’s the first custom bass from any company I have ordered. I CANNOT WAIT.

Yes that’s my bass. It was guitarpaintguys you can expect to be without your bass for 3-6 months depending on their backlog

Forgot to ask - is there a push/pull for active/passive (there’s a switch on the John Taylor model)?

Yes there is a push pull on the volume knob and a tone control on the 5th knob. That tone also works in active as well
