Considering it wasn't even hinted at during NAMM, I doubt this bass is getting a production run - the specs are just so niche. Maybe a limited run.

So I'm having some intonation issues on my Combustion 5-string. Its a fresh set of Newtone Strings and the thickness of the low string is .165, tuned to F#. I've moved the bridge piece as far back as it goes, but the note is still sharp on the 12th fret. And not only that, it seems that if I fret notes on the lower frets, even if they appear in tune on the tuner, they still sound kinda sharp to my ears. Can it be a faulty string?

So hey - if anyone is interested - my band Door 13 has our second single dropping tomorrow through our distribution label. We also have a video premiere. The tune was recorded on my NG3 but my Z made it into the video.

Did you check neck-bolt tightness? Someone was saying recently that they had issues and it turned out that not all of their bolts were tight.

What gauge string and what tuning where you using before this?

How hard to do play? Notes can be pulled sharp on the initial attack if you pluck really hard. Did you create good witness points by pushing the string down right in front of the bridge saddle and behind the nut? Sometimes things are a little loosey goosey if you don't do that.

If it's none of those things, then it's definitely the string. People have installed much heavier gauges on Combustions and I've never seen anyone say they ran out of room to intonate even up to .200" for E0. Unfortunately, sometimes you get a dud string.

Yea, creating those witness points helped a little bit, dont know why I didnt remember to do that earlier. It's weird because before with the Payson .170 gauge, I didnt have much trouble setting the intonation, but I think it helps that the Payson string has the taper part at the bridge all the way to the steel core.

Is the Newtone tapered at all?
