Happily trending in my own peculiar direction.
Just the mention of carrying around the city, busses and metro makes me immediately go towards the GR. If I didn’t have to carry it around, and had a car, I’d probably pick something else.

They used to, but all that changed when Mesa was sold to Gibson back in 2021. After that the availability of all Mesa products in the EU has been abysmal. Levytukku, the Finnish importer for Mesa, recently announced that this might be changing rather soon, perhaps even later this year. Only time will tell.
I didn’t want to point fingers at my friend here for having such “unusual” taste…
dingwall knocked it outta the park here with amazing instrument. It just wasn’t the park I bought tickets for however… it sure was tempting to buy season passes!!

This was actually before the buyout from Gibson. It had to do with regulations, parts availability and shipping issue more some from Covid related changes in globalization then the take over.
fwiw I have no affection for Gibson but that is the info we have received in the mess chat and ultimately the linking with Gibson should in theory expand Mesas reach once the existing and previous issues smooth out. Fingers are crossed.
If you could go with a 1 driver cab I’d lean on the Mesa 115 subway. It really is the most versatile box for its size on the market IMO. It can go low volume or shake a stage and sound sooo hood doing it. It is the closet bass cab to a FRFR (with a smidge of Mesa flavour) that I know of. I went with more drivers as size is not a concern and I really like the flavouring a cabinet can provide. It really is such a critical factor to live sound. Try as many as you can with your gear and at volume before you buy.
I also have a bergantino hdn 212 for cross reference. It’s a crunchy beast but again bigger. I was gonna sell it when I acquired my Mesa 212. I couldn’t yet….
I’ve heard really cool things about the gr stuff and would definitely be inclined if Mesa wasn’t an available option.
For the size of cab you may be looking for possibly both the subway 115 and the berg I mentioned could potentially be overkill BUT if you do plan on scaling up bare in mind what future cabs you can pair with whatever you purchase.
I'm so, SO glad my new project is all in on IEMs. No more lugging cabs of any kind around . Before this, I'd just have a small FRFR on stage for personal monitoring only with my AxeFx. Right now I'm just going out of my D800+ into the IEM rack splitter.
I think if I had to go back to a cab, I'd be pretty wary of trying to carry gear to support a room, or even part of a room. I'd just want something more side-firing that'll fill out the stage to the minimum volume needed there.

My amp is 2 ohm stable.
GR stuff is cool because a 2x10 is so small and easy to carry. I dont plan to play live for a while, I mean we dont even have a set or a fully fleshed out theme or a name yet. Besides, its a country thing with a dark vibe. Im not playing extreme death to thousands of people or some such
Just a guitar and vocals. We are planning on addding a drummer and another guitar, too. So that would be that.

I'm so glad my main gig is on IEMs. Just for the hearing I save in rehearsal alone!
I was doing the same thing running my D800+ into the IEM rig, but I ended up replacing that with a Jad Freer Capo. Another magic little box.

Yeah, even though I'm running a quad cortex now, my capo capture is always running as a core part of my sound.
People seem to always think Dingwall and Darkglass is "the combo," but the Capo is also something special for sure.

I actually reached out to the owner of that bass to confirm his specs before ordering. Exact same finish and top specs all around.

Im right there with you guys. Ive finally dialed in my ears vs cab tone. Im still getting used to the IEM system, but i think i can safely say the cabs can stay home now on rehearsal nights. Im still gonna bring a small 112×115 setup for the gig tonight i think. I havent got the courage to leave the cabs home on gig day yet. Id hate for something to fail and be stuck without them.
We are going to be renting a rehearsal with gear but I wanna schlep my own thing. Kinda wanna have "my sound" with me whereever we go plus I'll be taking my rig with me to every gig anyway. Kinda want to get into that of mindstate of always having my rig and backup. Also, I'm new to playing live with people so what do I know
Also... Genzler 1x12 Array looks very very nice and is small. Has great support for that B string. Either that or a GR cab. 2x12 slim. They're basically the same price.

That other bass is Purple to grey top.
